Ppg wave generator and wave mapper too...
I've discovered patches like that in Turnado, I'm rubbish at saving stuff though and wasn't able to recreate them.
There's real magic hidden away in that app, but with all the potential combinations it does take a bit if work to find them.
For synths, and the thread bump for effects, pretty much anything could be used for soundscapes. Just got to know how to use them.
That being said, I recommend Nave and Animoog for synths. For effects granular stuff works well, like either iDensity or Borderlands Granular.
When I was on my 3, tweaking, as soon as I found something good I'd hit record and hope the recording would be glitch free, or at least glitch light, I used to be over cautious before when everything was 3.5" disks, too many times I lost work if I only did one copy, now though it's easy just getting caught up experimenting and forgot to save all the individual elements. There was a few things I loved about the good old days, but there is a ton of stuff now when it comes to music.
I've stopped saving stuff - I do a mixdown and usually delete all my old working files. Same with presets, I rarely bother and just see what happens.
It's a good idea, like using an old analogue synth. It keeps you from repeating yourself too much, I guess, but can be a distraction trying to find the right sounds. On the flip side, finding the sounds is often part of the act of songwriting and for some, part of the performance. I think this is why I never got on with using long samples (longer than a drum hit) because they somehow felt a bit "fixed" in my head.
Yeah it's nice just to experiment, with me sometimes I'll have something good going and keep messing up the recording, so I'll save it and come back when I'm feeling more relaxed, although I do like building up synth and fx presets for future use, which I then never use and make new stuff on the fly.
Exactly.
Borderlands 2
I like SoundScaper's Altispace, Virsyn's AudioReverb, and Dedelas.
For near never repeating, outrageous, glitchy, evolving etc, sounds, pads I use PPG MiniMapper + my Lemur MiniMangla Template, it animates all CC's and is totally crazeee!
I used to archive everything, but then realised I've built up this massive collection of stuff that I'll never use. I keep a collection of oersonal samples, but everything else is done as a spur of the moment thing.
