AirTurn (BT limited text keyboard) to MIDI converter in an iPad app?

Does anyone know of an iPad app that will convert text keystrokes to MIDI signals?

I'd also love to see this is something like MIDIBridge, MIDIFlow, etc.

The apps that work with AirTurn, such as JamUp and AmpKit have dedicated AirTurn support separate from MIDI for AitTurn devices.

    Thanks!

Excellent and depressing find at the same time. They mention in the writeup that iOS requires that the app be in the foreground to capture the QWERTY keyboard key inputs. Doesn't work for what I am trying to do. If this is the case for all apps that can do this it looks like I am dead in the water for what I want to do.

I want to use one of the pedals on my AirTurn Quad to start and stop recording in Auria on my iPad while using the rest to control the effects in an Amp Sim. Will need to think about this a bit more or just byte the bullet and buy a Keith McMillen SoftStep.

  • Irig blue board might do what you want cheaper than a soft step

  • if you have an iPhone, you could pair your Airturn to the iPhone, and send the DoubleDecker MIDI data over wifi or bluetooth to the iPad. That will work in the background.

  • But the SoftStep is cheaper than a iPhone, so this idea only works if you already have a second iOS device.

Hmm, need to look for something like Double Decker on my Mac, could just send the MIDI data via my iConnectAudio4+. That would work. I think my iPhone (3s) is probably to old to manage this, but I've been looking for an excuse for a new 6+ :)

Should have gotten the soft step in the first place and skipped the AirTurn, but really could not use it properly until I got the iCA4+, oh well, there is always eBay.

EDIT : Hey, I'll borrow my wifes iPad. the purchase will com out of her app budget :). Just seems like a real PITA to route a single command to start on then stop a recording.
