Wanted to see how many apps I could run at the same time but it turned into this which is was much more fun

Good stuff Sir Doug and instructive. Always excellent to see someone working in real time on a piece and this is such a clear way of watching the process. Especially with things one doesn't use so much of (animoog/effectrix in my case). OF COURSE I wanted to see it all being recorded as well for later use/editing
Nice tune Doug, and also demonstrates nicely how much fun there is to be had, making music on an iPad.
You would have to make sure the AB setup is rock steady before performing live. I tried a similiar set, but added an effect app into the effects channel while everything was playing; and got a buzzing sound that wouldn't quit until I killed most of the apps. So; I would guess that all the apps should be loaded ahead of time before starting to play?
It would be good if a Preset could be saved in AB that would load everything automatically. That way you could use it as a set list for changing songs or setups during a performance.
Also, could MiMix be used to control the levels and pans of all the AB chains? How would MMix be setup? In the Output channel?
Nice video Doug. I can't wait for Rock Drum Machine to have midi capabilities. So we van start and stop it in sync. Someday I hope. Luis? Are to there ?
:-)
Thanks guys, and yeah you do need to have everything set up in AB before you start, adding anything while your playing will kill it with hanging midi notes
Hi Doug,
Good video...
Seemed to me that Effectrix wasn't running in tempo with everything else. Is that right? Looked like the drums were at 60BPM but Effectrix was at 100BPM? Was that deliberate?
Anyway - some great sounds... and I like the way you got SynthMaster running that sequence arp automatically... I need to try that.
Animoog is always good... just such a great app...
Nice one Doug, iPad music production is looking very promising with each generation.. I'm guessing that's an air2 on ios 8.3?.
Also one of my favourite combos - Animoog and SeekBeats.. Sadly that's about it on my little ol' ipad2 ( I do a lot of bouncing )!!
Animoog + Seekbeats = some very cool sounds
2 of the best sound generating apps on iOS IMO...
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 You mean running in them tandem (I obviously do not yet do this ?
I just mean that both those app allow you to create the most amazing sounds... so I can only imagine what they do together (never really tried it myself).
Both have great use of "random" user sound generation - which is great fun...
Haven't watched the video yet (phone, not on wifi) but can you really run all of those apps at once???
I haven't run that particular combo but a few weeks back I had four big synths being controlled by Auxy, each going through a separate effect chain in AB, and all recorded into Auria. I must have had about ten apps running and the iPad didn't miss a beat.
The Air 2 gets a lot of stick, but it's a powerful beast.
@monzo Which 4 big synths did you have running at the same time from Auxy? I was wondering because I'm still figuring out what synths play well with each without sync problems. Thanks.
