Cubasis + multitrack instruments

Hi, sorry for the silly question. I would like to import my midifiles on Cubase and have all tracks assigned to a player (Soundcanvas, or BS16 with good soundfond and so on): do I have to go, track by track, to assign the single midi channel, or is there any faster way?
Which is the best GM soundfont that you suggest to me?
And what's the best drum kit (also as an app, not only soundfont)?
Regards and thanks in advance.

  • The default per midi channel Is No MIDI output and channel assignment is off. You can't assign anything to BS16 (or any particular app) unless it is running in the background. When you do route your various MIDI tracks to another app you still need to select the MIDI out channel.

The best of anything is going to be highly subjective. I am not going to recommend any sound fonts, but what kind of drums do you need? World percussion, Latin, electronic, rock? Many to choose from but most folks would say you can't go wrong with the DrumJam app.

  • When I open up a midi file in cubasis it automatically assigns instruments per channel.

I get that also but not sure why?

  • As far as sound fonts the Proteus mega pack has 3500 high quality sounds taken from the original ROMS. I like it. Here's a link to a current thread:

Do the midi files contain PC messages?

  • Scott Pellegrom Kit2 is a good drumkit in DrumJam and it works perfect with midi and cubasis.
