Looking for a graphic design app, see post.

I want to design my own graphics for soundcloud and music profiles but i can't find anything on the itunes store. What i want to do is take an image and overlay with over images and text. I wnt to be able to manipulate the image as well with post processing effects, invert etc.

Does such an app exist or do you use several different apps? Cheers.

I've loved LEONARDO app for a few years now and it's always getting better. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/leonardo-photo-editor-layer/id656090065?mt=8

It's Got so many features. All of what you asked for Overlay, Invert, Text & Images, Magic Wand (cool feature) and a whole bundle extra.

For a simpler look at some of those features the developer has another app called SUPERIMPOSE that is a bit more basic.

But I'd highly recommend Leonardo as an all in one manipulation-studio! :)

I do all my image editing for Soundcloud graphics on my iPhone using a load of different apps I picked up for free (though they're usually paid, I just waited for the offers):

Triaginator, Juxtaposer, Diana, Circular, Kaleidacam, Typic, Toonpaint, Portrait Painter, Halftone2 - and the best photo app ever - Snapseed (iPhone version, not the awful iPad one).

I then export the images and overlay text on my Mac or PC using either Photoshop or Affinity Photo (free Beta) - but to be honest you could just as easily use Typic or a similar app.

I don't use the iPad at all for graphics at the moment, but most of those I've listed probably have ipad versions, or could be loaded onto the pad as well.

  • Take a look at iColorama. It's a serious app that does a huge variety of things very well. It's frequently updated, frequently free but worth the retail price of $2.99 many times over.

  • Pixelmator $4.99 - I haven't used it but the OSX version is considered an alternative to Photoshop.

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pixelmator/id924695435?mt=8

  • pixelmator does what you describe and is especially good with collages and effects

  • @monzo going to pull on your expertise here. I have a slew of pic/draw apps and photo-wise have always loved Snapseed on the iPad, but not so much after the recent redesign. What's your thinking behind the double plus for the phone version?

  • Theres a few features removed in the iPad version, and I just can't get on with it - or the Mac version - it just doesn't produce the same results.

The 'tune image' section is as powerful as anything in Photoshop - increasing the ambiance and shadows, after lowering the brightness can completely transform a lifeless photo. Brilliant app, probably my most used.

Ditto. Everything tunes these days, but Snapseed gets the balance between this and that tweakably right. Started off (of course) seduced by the Drama, but now use it more simply and for everything.

Am also really enjoying SKRWT. Limited but powerful at what it does, much like myself etc.

  • I agree PixelMator would be one of the best choices. It works on both the iPad and iPhone (also on the Mac).

  • I like Pixlr for photo filters, but I'd rather have Photoshop's "Selective Color" function in an ios app.

Does anyone know of a good app that replicates this from the desktop version? The ios version seems lacking..

  • Over is a very simple app for adding text to a photo. Comes with a nice collection of fonts with more available via IAP. Marry that with your filter app of choice ( I like Pixlr too) and you can actually get a good bit done.

Doesn't work on all Macs - freezes up with some graphics cards (mine mid 2012 MacBook Pro).

Pixlr by AutoDesk does exactly this, I believe for free.

  • Some great suggestions, didn't think there were so many! I'll update later but had a quick play with Snapseed which looks great.

Hey, Snapseed was just updated and it is great, as is the iphone version. I love the invisible menu concept.

  • I like to make it look like old vinyl record covers with the VinylizeMe app

  • Both and more digital paintings done in my iPhone 4

    With a a combo of:
Leonardo, glaze, color thief, HDR fx pro, pixite apps - a dozen others

If you need more poster type stuff check out SimplyMpress

  • Union is a good app to cut different parts of a picture and combine them to one.

  • Yeah grabbed Snapseed and bought iColorama last night on sale, fantastic! I will add the others to my appshopper wish list and do a bit of research.

@audiblevideo nice artwork but i can only see one shot, are they all done with ios apps? I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality. Cheers y'all!

  • @musikmachine all done with ios apps on my iphone 4s. Here's a small gallery of different styles.

Leonardo is my go to app for blending and compositing. iColorama has some great effects and controls, but the UI is less than lovely.
