Drum tracks - Stereo vs Stems

  • @eustressor last Gadget update brought exporting a midi file (not real-time midi) which some apps will load in (Cubasis?) It's not hugely complicated I don't think. I don't personally have a pressing need to have each drum on it's own audio track though as Gadget allows me to adjust the levels and panning for each individually but I do understand that some with more patience than I might want the extra control.

  • @Diode108, Phase - just a reference to the old fashioned way acoustic set, lots of mics, lots of coffee etc.

Jocphone I don't think Gadget supports MIDI out yet, but even if it did, I'd probably be totally lost. Complete midiot. Thank god these apps automagically recognize my keyboard or I'd just be standing there staring at my screen, dumbfounded and defeated ;)

Sir, may I remind you that upstanding members of the forum are often dumbfounded but never defeated...

Oh I get it, like all the testing to see if the phase is coherent between the different mics? Flipping polarity and listening again?

That's me too, wish it wasn't so..... I'm postponing learning midi till Auria Pro is here, then I'll give it a go.

If you exported your Gadget drum track as midi you'd also lose the actual audio (and any FXs) of those (carefully selected) Gadget drums and have to re-assign new drum samples from somewhere else. Doesn't sound like that's what you'd be wanting anyway.

  • Yeah it's true. Probably as much or even more faff as exporting each drum track separately.

We're adding the ability to do a simpler save of the 16 tracks from Diode-108. Not in 1.3.0, which has had its feature set frozen, but probably in the release after that.

Was it my imagination or was your app only $3.99 for 20 minutes or so the other day?

It was a week, actually, to celebrate 1.2 features.

  • I must have just caught the end of it, then. BTW, congrats on Diode Free! No listed IAP ... What's different?

  • Too true ... You know I know but it certainly bears repeating. Especially when my most recent track, stepping out of Gadgetopia, featured like 15 mono drum parts sequenced from SampleTank. I lost nothing and had over 30 unfrozen tracks total - plus a handful of active plugins - and never broke 40% CPU.

I just need to tame my accursed "add stereo tracks" finger in Auria!
