  • I only found this one and it's free!

  • Oh god that's awful

  • Here's a link: http://poolp.webflow.io/

I was wondering about it, too. Didn't want to spend $5.99 without knowing more.

    It does support Audiobus.

  • I still have yet to try Everest. I figure I have room for 1 non-MIDI looper in my rig, only. Sorry.

  • Yes I tried to poop, everyone should.... butt seriously, Poolp by Flart (wtf?) the video is nice though...

  • They sent me a code but I passed, only because it's optimised for iPhone and I was getting a few strange graphic anomalies on the iPad and the "Swipe To Stop Record" function wouldn't work on my iPad. I have asked them to send a code to Jakob, because he uses an iPhone.

I checked out their video demo and to be fair it looks good. Here is the link to their demo

  • A looper called Poolp by a company called Flart Studio, I expected looped farts, plops and splash sounds with a bucket reverb but instead we get these lovely soundscapes...

  • I actually bought this on a whim. Taps and swipes don't work properly in 2X mode on iPad. In 1X mode and on my iPhone it works fine. I'm not so sure the docs are correct though as far as taps and swipes. I find that "Swipe to stop" actually stops playback after the loop finishes. Doesn't seem to effect recording. One tape goes into record and then one tap stops record or two taps goes into overdub for me. Getting out of overdub seems a little flaky. I'd like to see it work as an instrument in AB and also to have IAA integration. I have gotten some interesting loops going just trying it out by thumping on my phone. Will spend a little more time with it on the weekend. Main thing I'd like to see is optimization for iPad and reliable control with the swipes and taps. The effects and re-sampling can make some very nice noise!

  • Intrigued by this one :)

  • In spite of an unfortunate choice of name and some limitations this app spits out nice crunchy loops and is easy to use. Probably not really a $5.99 app but depending on where it goes from here it might be worth it. Re-sampling through FX is much fun.

Keep reading swipe as wipe, must focus....interesting, I looked at this quickly (all scatology to one side) and gut-decided 5.99 was too much. Would I have indulgabuy'd at 2.99? Yes. 3.99 probably/maybe. What do I know about the app? Not much. How did I decide? Don't know....would I have bought it at 5.99 if the dev had come by or posted a cool sixty second vid? Probably....

  • I've decided this app is worth the asking price. Record a loop of something through mic or Audiobus and then re-sample while tweaking FX etc. anywhere and anytime. On my phone or iPad. Once you get feel for tap and swipe controls it's easy. Lots of fun. I have no connection to app dev. Just think it's a pretty cool app.

It's been an expensive morning already :) Any obvious holes here (esp. as regards getting samples in or out?)

  • Random thoughts:

Uses copy/paste and email to export. ACP right into AudioShare works fine. Also into Caustic. Didn't try email. That's M4a format. ACP is 44.1 16 mono wav. Needs stereo export. Input is via mic input or in AB output slot. ACP for input is supposed to be in update. It's pretty usable as is and has potential. Could use a metronome. Don't see any way to save Sessions other than iTunes backup but I haven't looked at it in iTunes yet.

  • i was gonna protest the scatology by not purchasing but the promo video kinda sold me. imagine if there was a looper that combined the effects of poolp with the different play modes of samplr and the 12 track slots of loopy...

  • It's actually "poolp". According to the urban dictionary:

    TOP DEFINITION
    poolp
Response to something ridiculous, or perhaps embarassing.

Can be a way of saying "I'll never do that", or "that sounds stupid."

Can also be used as an expression of surprise or to break a moment of silence.

Best used on the spur of the moment, when it feels necessary.
"Hey, let's go watch 'Adventure of the Action Hunters'"

    "Poolp!"

  • Just not convinced about the positive association with the idea of peeing in the pool, butt it certainly provokes some discussion...

  • Are there any Audiobus sidebar controls when you're in the input slot app? and how is the delay effect when you're moving the time fader? is it pitchy or is it skippy?

  • "Has anyone tried POOP?"

After I started to eat oatmeal regularly, I didn't really have to try. :p

  • Hi,

I'm a team member of poolp app.
We're very sorry for the of the misunderstood of our app name.

We're a small french company and we didn't realize that "poolp" could be such a bad word game!
In fact the idea of the name app was to mix "loop" and "poulpe" (in french "poulpe" means octopus).

    @anickt
many thanks for your suggestions and your nice review (it was the first!). You made made ou day.
Export stereo wav is only available for sessions recordings (in sessions tab)

    roadmap
    audiocopy paste
    stereo input
    universal app
more creative control (position jump, instant loop)
    tempo sync of delay
    more filter params
    grain sampler (maybe)

We're also musician, so we're using this app ourselves for ours tracks. The idea was to make a looper on the go (a sort of sp 202).
    Any improvement suggestions are welcome.

    Sorry again for app name.

    Thanks.

I would harness the word play and take this thread to get some info out about the app, tutorial, publicity!

Make this SHITSTORM work for you!

  • @ericp thanks for coming by. Haven't got the app yet, but considering it. About the name, @RustiK might have a good point. It is true that it's probably because of the name confusion that there has been more talk about this app here than often happens with an unknown new app.

  • @Ericp

OK - I hadn't even looked at the Session recording function but now I get it. Thanks - that makes it even better! The road-map looks great!!

  • Hi @ericp,

I like the sounds in the video, the app is probably good fun on the iPhone. I would like to know if there are any Audiobus sidebar controls - if I can start and stop recording from within the input app in the Audiobus chain. And the delay effect - is it the type that changes pitch when the time fader is moved or does it just skip to the next value without pitch change?

  • @firejan82 - Just return to poolp from input app sidebar. No start/stop. FX are on poolp playback, not on input from what I can see. Delay does change pitch but there is significant latency between changing the delay time and it taking effect unless I'm doing something wrong.

  • Thanks for the answers @anickt.
