yes but I write funk rock .....its good for me for string fills etc.
    .

  • i also have most of the other synths as well....but really like this

  • im using a ipad 2....and it works without the crackle and pop ....that I get with some other synths ...that's a big plus for me

  • I still can't believe that i have a full blown Korg M1 in my iPad. Unbelievable!
Last night, i found myself going through the presets and remembering what made Korg so great in the Synth and workstation area. Inspiration. The presets are so well programmed that they inspire you to write music. Sometimes a single preset gets you to come up with a song just by playing it. I don't think the sounds are dated at all. Of course it depends on what kind of music you make. For me, there is a lot of quality and depth in this app. I really thank Korg for making it a standalone app instead of just a gadget. I think this was the greates gift Korg gave all of us who dreamed of owning this amazing classic Synth..

  • I agree...its pure inspirational....dam good ....makes me want to write and add sounds to older projects

  • Are the 2 IAPs worth the extra cash?

  • 100% yes!

    Definitely.

My favorite M1 patches are in the IAP. It's a hell of a deal for 10 bucks.

    Yes IMHO.

    Yes.

In my not so humble opinion.

  • Fuck, I'm lovin' this. I love cheesy 80's sounds.

And the tinkly keyboards....don't forget those.

  • I AM THE TINKLE KING. HEAR ME TINKLE.

  • The interface is well laid out, but could use a little contrast for clarity. I don't see it as being dated seeing as how it now has 18 effects and aftertouch. No portamento to speak of, nor a legato mode, but maybe it'll get added later. There are some great "timeless" sounds in there. Strings, harps, pipe organ, a great flute and many more that I haven't even got to yet. The patch manager helps to find sounds/categories better than any other. I also like that it is an 8-part multitimbral as well as a combi style synth. Works great for live use, and no perceptible latency at all. There are several 80's iconic patches though which can be good or bad depending on whether you just sequence EDM or like mixing it up.

  • cooool beans on this app

  • Wow! I have been convinced about the IAPs. Thanks all.

  • just got the iaps....sounds great..im happy ....thanks korg

  • It's a very useful app to have - and the IAP's include some essential sounds.

Since buying it I've used it on every track so far, and it's added quite an unusual dimension to what I do - some of the presets inspire me to go off in different directions musically than I would have have done otherwise.

  • Another advantage to the expansion cards is that there's more chance of stumbling across a lesser used gem of a sound, compared to the factory presets which have all been used zillions of times.

  • I've been trying to talk myself out of buying this but it's not working, Korg know how to make great iOS apps so I'm in...how many presets are on the expansions? is there a list of presets on the web anywhere?

The iM1, M1 presets and M1EX have 100 each. Then you have Drums1 Orchestra1 Synth1 which are 50 presets each. Memory has also 100 presets. That's 550 right there. Not including IAPs. It is on sale so you should get it! I tried talking myself out of it too but I knew I needed it in Gadget. It's worth it.

    Thanks for that :)

I bought it plus the M1 cards IAP, will get the T1 cards too at some point but that's enough to be going on with for now, there's a lot of stuff in there! Certainly don't regret it some great rich sounds to play with and lots of good drum kits too. Great you can import patches from the web as well, there seem to be loads out there.

I think it could do with a favourites bank. I know you can save patches to user cards but would be nice to quickly add presets to a favourites bank to work on later.

    Great app :)

  • You can also find free sysex files online that you can import although you have to do it through iTunes. I suggested to Korg that "Open In" should be supported for this.

That's awesome that you like it. I've not yet gotten the IAP stuff yet. I've barely scratched the surface of the app as it is. What's in the T1 cards?

Pretty much the same type of sounds that are in the M1 cards but they sound better. I like the ethnic and world sounds.
