iOS 9 Beta 1

Did someone tried it? I would like to install it because I'm very interested in multi-window, but I'm terribly afraid of breaking Cubasis or other music apps.

I've tried ios betas before and I wouldn't recommend it. They are very buggy. Just have patience.

  • Isn't iOS 8.3 still beta..... ;)

Patience. Let's wait until 3 month of bug fixing is over. Then have a look :)

As someone who has only just upgraded from iOS 7 I'll wager the wait might need to be a little bit longer...

    It usually does. ^^
but hurray split view and they fixed text input! Want!
writing text won't be a nightmare anymore
one need less to use the laptop :)

  • The usability of split-screen will be very dependent on how well the Apps UI scales and it will be even harder to pinpoint the small UI elements. Imagine running Cubasis and Nave side by side (or top and bottom) on a vertical iPad. It will be miniature-hell :D

Now here's an idea, why not make it possible to send app-screens to an AirPlay devices?

This way it would be possible to say view Cubasis on an external screen to monitor progress while playing/performing with the 'app' on the main screen, and when editing is needed use the iPad screen as a touch-mouse/input-device. The reason I'm thinking this might be possible is that it will be possible to use the 'keyboard-area' and a touch-mouse when selecting text, so why not complete control?

This time I will wait for full release and not spend time with betas...

  • hm, i wonder if the virtual trackpad does a simulated click with force touch ...

  • @lala I've been using 'touch-click'(tap to click, two finger tap for right click, two finger swipe = scrolling etc.) on my MacBooks for very long time so 'force touch' is not necessarily needed to do clicking.

Just move the cursor swiping the finger and tap to click :) (This is the way it works in just about every 'VNC Remote' app for the iPad).

The 'Force-Touch' and 'Haptic Feedback' would be nice on the iPad but considering the screen-size the whole device would be 'shaking' :D

  • I've installed it. Quite stable, but rolling back on the iPhone since it debugs the shit out of everything and battery is draining pretty quick.

That "trackpad" only applies in textfields, to move the cursor.

Some apps crash, but not all the time. In certain screens. Probably they call some APIs that are deprecated in iOS 9.

Anyway, it's far better than the transition from 7 to 8.

You can send apps to AirPlay. AirPlay just shows whatever's on the screen. There is some latency but not too bad for most things. Never mind I missed the tail end of that post. And I agree. LOL!

    @samu
I am having the wildest fantasies of pressure sensitive ipads.
and i never click my trackpad I just tab it ...

picture in picture looks cool, thats kind of what I do on the mac :)
I think this is a really nice update
will push my ipad use cases up :)

  • I asked info on Steinberg forums and they answered that do not support betas. So, at the moment, no iOS 9 installation :-)
