Another great Yamaha freebie

I don't really understand how Yamaha make any money from app creation but I will happily take free apps all day long, I recently downloaded their freebie "Chord Tracker" and am really enjoying it. I had looked at the somewhat pricey chord detection app "Capo touch" and I was biding my time hoping to pick it up at a good sale price, but now I don't need to wait as Chord Tracker does everything I wanted. You simply let it play your chosen iTunes music track(s) and it spits out the chords in real time allowing you to play along. (If only I had access to this technology 30 years ago)
Along with all their other great free apps I felt a need to say a great big thank you and well done to Yamaha

Holy ridiculousness with extra baked beans.

    US link:

    https://appsto.re/us/9mgk7.i

    As @banjofran kindly indicates:

Almost weird and creepy if it wasn't so on the spot. Select a song, it 'reads' it for three seconds and bang off you go. A scrolling list of chords/notes.

Some people who have a use for this sort of sausage will shiver and weep when they see it.

And, erm, cheap. May I say, almost unamerican.

  • Good find Mr Goodyear.

  • I've been using Chordec to do the same thing, it used to be free but now it's a couple of pounds, I guess the Yamaha one is better value now :)

    Nice app!

Things I have found so far with it:

    (1). No export.

(2). It adds approx 0.1 MB to 'Documents and Data' each time I load a song or reload songs from favourites. This will obviously add up!

The only reason I keep the Yamaha mobile music sequencer on my pad is because it has a decent chord detector, (with export).

Chordec was limited also. Even though I haven't deleted it. ;)

Jam player is ok, if you don't mind portrait view.

They all work in there way and this one is also free, so :-)

Still looking for a reasonable priced all rounder as I don't use that feature enough to spend loads a dosh on one. :-)

Added: when I first read the thread I was hoping they had just taken the detecor from YMMS and made a stand-alone. Similar to what Caustic done with Caustic Editor..

  • Woooow!

Quick to load a song, then give me the chart of its chords.

    Woow.

  • Awesome!!
