Animusic

Seems there was a thread about Animusic a little while ago. Nothing new content-wise but somebody named Dblock has uploaded 1080p versions of the Animusic videos to YouTube recently. Excellent video and audio quality.

  • Yeah, that was me that started that thread. Thanks for the heads-up @anickt. I believe Animusic 1 & 2 should be shown to elementary school kids to whet their appetite for what is the future of music and how inspiring it can be.

  • There was a grand vision for real-time (not rendered) animation. The idea being it could accept any midi file.

  • Man I love those vids. The heady days of early CG, pushing the software and hardware beyond limits to achieve a truly creative vision. (Hmmm what does that remind me of....). I had no idea Animusic2 had been rerendered and released on bluray - many thanks for the heads up!
I use Cinema4D for CAD renderings, and I remember coming across a plug in that allowed a midi track to be dropped in the time line that could drive any element in C4D - motion, texture, etc - not real time by any means, but I felt the author of that plug must have been at least partially inspired by Animusic. If only I had time to learn (and render) animation........

That sounds awesome. I'm a CAD guy too (SolidWorks), but this is way out of my realm of knowledge... currently. I thought about learning Blender, but it too is a big learning curve for someone over 50.
