Animusic
Seems there was a thread about Animusic a little while ago. Nothing new content-wise but somebody named Dblock has uploaded 1080p versions of the Animusic videos to YouTube recently. Excellent video and audio quality.

Yeah, that was me that started that thread. Thanks for the heads-up @anickt. I believe Animusic 1 & 2 should be shown to elementary school kids to whet their appetite for what is the future of music and how inspiring it can be.
There was a grand vision for real-time (not rendered) animation. The idea being it could accept any midi file.
Man I love those vids. The heady days of early CG, pushing the software and hardware beyond limits to achieve a truly creative vision. (Hmmm what does that remind me of....). I had no idea Animusic2 had been rerendered and released on bluray - many thanks for the heads up!
I use Cinema4D for CAD renderings, and I remember coming across a plug in that allowed a midi track to be dropped in the time line that could drive any element in C4D - motion, texture, etc - not real time by any means, but I felt the author of that plug must have been at least partially inspired by Animusic. If only I had time to learn (and render) animation........
That sounds awesome. I'm a CAD guy too (SolidWorks), but this is way out of my realm of knowledge... currently. I thought about learning Blender, but it too is a big learning curve for someone over 50.
