  • wow, thanks. will be trying this out for sure.

  • Good luck Adam! Bold move, but I like that in, er, a move :)

  • This is So cool @adamkumpf
For those that haven't already jumped in, there are those new multi-timbral tools from Roland and Korg that play very nicely with Firo...

  • Only had a quick play but this is great. Very timely for me too as I was about to buy another app that has some of the same features (I'm not naming it, that wouldn't be fair to the other developer), so this has saved me a few quid - many thanks to Fiddlewax for this. Hooked it up easily to Thumbjam and Animoog -couldn't see how to get iM1 to pick it up but I'll check out the docs tomorrow.

Cool app for working out songs, I'll use this one a lot.

iM1 needs background audio on in advanced settings

Very, very generous Adam! Thank you! I too, am trying to get my kids more into playing instruments... They seem to like Toca Band and will introduce them to FIRO....as soon as I get to noodle first! :o)

  • Mighty kind of you, @adamkumpf - thank you!

  • Thanks I currently use Fiddlewax Blue so again thanks a lot.

  • Wow thanks a lot! Excited to play around with this. It looks fantastic.

  • Yes, thank you @adamkumpf, now I feel guilty that I don't get to give you money

    Thank you.

Hey @adamkumpf, cheers! Really appreciate this goodie.

I was waiting for the then call 'Fiddle Wax Pro' to go on sale, it has been on my Appstore wish list for a while..

Wow. Very generous and forward thinking of you. Especially with the outlook for it being an education/teaching tool.

    Hope it all works out!

    Cheers again. :-)

  • TY. Kind sir.

I think I know the app you are talking about. (Shhh.. We won't mention it here). I actually did buy it, and all the while whilst playing it I was thinking about Fiddlewa... Whoops.. 'Firo' :-)

  • Got it - thanks so much

  • Loving this app already. Just using it for the keyboard department and it's doing what I thought/hope it would.

    Lovely Stuff! :-)

  • And Adam, I don't know what your plans are or how things will work out, but Firo was a good name change choice, and, I'm sure it aint cheap :), but firo.com IS available....

  • Great to hear so many people are giving Firo a try. As always, let me know if you have any thoughts/suggestions and I'll keep working to make it better. :)

@JohnnyGoodyear - yeah, I looked into the domain firo.com, but it just didn't seem worth it for now. gotta love domain resellers :/

  • Maybe it's just me but I feel a lil disgruntled for having paid for it now ho hum....

  • I paid for it, but I’m still gruntled.

  • Wow, thank you Adam, very generous!

I wouldn't want to seem ungrateful, and wouldn't ask any more of you if you hadn't solicited suggestions... But, since you did...

    Velocity sensitivity?

    }:^)

  • edited June 2015

That's very generous @adamkumpf, and thoughtful too if I might add. I can see nothing but good from this, especially re music education. Always admired your business approach and interactive processes. I'm very eager to try out Firo.. and that name change is news to me!

  • @rocco - There's no direct way to get velocity info from the touchscreen (maybe with the force click in the future?).

That said, Firo does give you control over velocity:

    • For the drums and chords, the velocity is based on how close you play to the center of each button in both x and y directions.
    • For the keyboard section at the bottom, the velocity is based on the distance from the center of each key in the y direction only (allowing you to slide left/right while still controlling velocity).

    Hope that helps :)

Thanks, yeah it's switched on - but Firo doesn't appear in the MIDI list, just the channel numbers.

  • Seeing Adams (or and his apps) development makes me happy to have paid for it. Good investment! I appreciate the educational approach alotALOT and got my value out of it. Thanks Adam& good luck

  • i pay for it too, but its for the DEV, not for apple.....so i feel not dissapoint to pay for it...

  • To the developer, thanks! Have it downloaded and will check it out.
