Can you glide while playing the keyboard or is that only tracker programmable? I think it's the latter I just want to make sure.

I got SidTracker 64 the moment it was released but since I'm not home and the network connection is kinda sucky 4G/LTE and coverage can hardly be called 'coverage' I've been of this thing called the internet.
Also it's that time of year when everyone gets crazy and sings 'Små Grodorna' and sqautjumps around and acts generally strange...
I'll give SidTracker 64 a proper spin once I'm back in the 'civilization'

@kobamoto SunVox, some of the Sunvox developer's other apps, and VividTracker are all tracker apps.
If you want SID-sound and a tracker, I'd say there's noone near. But then I'm a bit biased (:

.sid is just a data streaming format without any information on instruments, pattern length and song construction. So, the answer is no. We had convert Commando that's bundled in the app using some data analysis and then correct a lot by hand.
The key is in the settings. Default is the rightmost selector = "filter ctrl voice". This can be overridden by Follows Keyboard voice = gives filter ctrl to the selected voice. This is mainly for live performance and can confuse you by stealing the filter control if you select a filter sound and start playing live in another voice.
For recording you want to enable "tracker rec" which sets the filter control voice in the aux pattern.
Did that make any sense? I will cover this in a tutorial also.
Only tracker programmable as of now. Or use a midi keyboard with pitch bend, but no classic portamento style.

@Segerfalk Thanks. I'm new to tracking so that part is a bit challenging but I think I've got most of the synthesis/sound design of SidTracker64 figured out and the sound is like candy to my ears.
@Segerfalk and @DanielLarsson Been digging into SidPlayer 64 for a while now and unfortunately I've already some glitches in th editor...
I'd love to see 'auto-advace' to next row when step-entering notes and also buttons for 'skip-step' and 'tie', this would speed up entering notes in step-record.(I suck at plaing live).
Ie. When pressing note, skip or tie the 'cursor' would advance to the next row.

Aha, you see zero glide isn't actually the same as no glide. The glide continues on all notes below until you set a new glide value, or hit a new note. Zero glide means that any ongoing glide should stop. To NOT set the glide value, just tap on the glide knob. It isn't 100% obvious, but we wanted to save some space in the GUI this way.
@Samu Hi. I was wondering how the synthesis options compare to other SID emulators that you used on the PC. More/fewer settings? I'm new to the SID game and have nothing to compare it to.
@mkell424 I've not done any direct comparison with GoatTracker or CeeseCutter nor 'SidPad'.
For 'ease of use' there is no alternatives to be found period. If one has the urge to create SID sounds just get SidTracker 64. I no longer have a real C64 for proper comparison but it would take many lines of code to achieve what can be accomplished by 'Fingering The Surface' with SidTracker 64 for a few minutes...
I'll do some 'by ear' testing of playback against SidPlay for Mac OS X and export the same file from both engines but what I've heard so far it will be a very close call. I'm used to the old quirky filter with 'distortion' from the 6581 so the 'cleaner' 8580 takes time getting used to
@DanielLarsson Got it, but shouldn't that also 'grey out' the glide knob? (this way we could see on what step the glide is 'stopped'? (This can easily get a bit confusing with many glides). I get the 'use zero' to use previously set value. And auto-glide presumeably calculates all the glide values to reach the target?(Next note?).

You don't have to clear the step! Place the cursor on the note with the sustain and press the sustain button on the right. Voilá, gone! You can also shorten or lengthen sustain this way by placing the cursor where you want it to stop (or continue) and press the sustain button

You can see on the note that when glide is zero you have an arrow pointing to the right. That's where the glide stops, at least until you set a new glide value.

@Segerfalk Thanks for clearing up things regarding sustain, it makes sense. Eventually I think I would have figured out the logic behind the function. I guess I was just looking for a quick way to shorten a note after sustain was already set so my 'brain logic' thought 'press sustain to stop sustaining just like releasing the sustain pedal'. 'Clear' worked too.
The 'clear' button makes sense too, It's not always so obvious that items outside an active menu are still useable.
Time to get back to 'exploring' SidTracker 64
@Segerfalk and @DanielLarsson You guys did an absolutely amazing job, this app is awesome. To be fair trackers and chip tune are not normally my thing but SidTracker has so much more potential. The workflow is so intuitive and the sounds are fantastic. I created a piece today and would never guess it came from a 'chip tune tracker'. Record into Cubasis, add some Synthmaster and boom! Thanks.
@Trueyorky Post it! Help @Segerfalk and @DanielLarsson keep their kids out of the poorhouse! I smugly walked on by without buying this thing cos, y'know, I don't get these grown men getting all hot about chiptune, but, well, I'd happy be persuaded that it can do more than that (whatever that really is etc).
Yeah I don't get this at all, though I can appreciate how well it's been made. I used Octamed on the Amiga for a few years, and while it was loads of fun at the time I've no wish to revisit tracker world when I could be enjoying quality time with Gadget.
Hats off to the developer though, it's obviously a quality app and much appreciated by the good folks on here.
