iMidipatchbay compatibiity
I am currently using iMidipatchbay with great success for my hardware synth (Fantom S) but I am struggling with apps. I have great control over iGrand Piano, but Garage Band and Sample Tank are both unresponsive to control from iMidipatchbay. I am looking for a broad spectrum of sounds to replace my hardware rig when I do live gigs and cannot bring my Fantom. Pianos, electric pianos, organs, strings, horns, synths and synth and electric basses are essential. Do I need a different patch bay app? or...different VI apps or...? Is there a list of fully iMidipatchbay compatible apps? I really like the app but if I have to move on so be it. Thanks in advance!

I haven't tried with Garageband - I think it's not very flexible with MIDI actually - but I've used iMIDIPatchbay happily with Sampletank, as well as Thumbjam, Sunrizer and a few others. In Sampletank you need to set up the MIDI channel for each of the four parts, it's the little number next to each instrument in the Parts tab on the main page.
If you have any technical questions about iMIDIPatchbay the developer @JohannesD seems to be on these forums fairly regularly, he's always responded to my private messages and been extremely helpful.
Thanks! I'll try to track him down
I'm here!
Sorry, there is no compatibility list like that, sorry. I cannot test all the apps out there. "All" a synth app in questi!on has to offer is either a virtual MIDI input port AND an option to disable all other input ports. Otherwise, if the app has at least the option to select an input channel other than "all", that's also fine.
I explained the issue here:
The video is about my other app Midiflow, but the concept is the same.
I hope that helps!
