Tone stack update
Tone stack can now use IAA inserts in the signal chain, (says it's free if you have the mother load but
I paid 3.99 for a starter bundle despite having the ml, ho-hum)
Anyway good news is it works well, so you can use bias amps with the tonestack effects, (best of both worlds). Also the ABY splitter now comes with stereo panning, volume, and split frequency, now much more flexible.

Nice one! I need to plug my guitar asap...
very cool update!
Nice update!
Now it's updated. Which I have to admit it's much better now, what is it like compared to Bias FX?
They're both excellent. Tonestack has more options though, but in terms of quality it's really hard to separate the two.
Subjectively I would say that Tonestack has better modulations and delays and Bias has better distortion and overdrive.
Also, one sound I like a clean and warm Fender amp, and I think Tonestack does a better job there.
Thank you.
Agree with richardyot. Just found a glitch with the IAA implementation, if you have more than one instance of IAA running, when you turn them off and on again via the tonestack GUI you get no sound, anyone else with this problem? Bias amps as IAA works fine and can switch in and out no problem, but if you add more they don't reliably switch in and out
(Air, 8.3)
I don't play guitar but use guitar pedals for synth effects, and really ToneStack and BiasFX are just Two Good Apps. I'll use one or the other on a whim, or use both in separate audio chains for processing two different synths.
This is a great tool now, without even using the effects within, it is a great IAA player. My playtime at the moment, a very stable -
That is cool @Fitz.
This is a game changing update.. It's like finding a box full of free guitar pedals. I never want to stop playing Tonestack with Aufx: Dub.
Now this is what I call a significant update !
I'm so glad I got the motherload bundle.
Amazing! Worth every penny!
@Fitz You have an interesting combination of apps running in Tone Stack. I didn't know you could load apps into Tone Stack. From watching the forum it seems to me that people are running sounds and apps inside the effects app rather than as a plugin in a DAW.
It's a nice idea, but I have to load in Tonestack several times before I can get it to work (it's always done this) in Audiobus and it doesn't play nicely with FLUX (or probably vice-versa) for me. In fact I got everything working nicely (eventually), swapped back to the instrument input and then coming back into Tonestack with FLUX added as an IAA effect got the dreaded drone noise. Other effects seemed fine though.
I like what they've done, but Tonestack is very flaky in Audiobus, so I'd prefer them to sort that out before bejazzling the app with shiny new things. I love Tonestack, but it's always a faff getting it to load up properly.
I might make a little video of it doing this.
I don't usually have any issues with Tonestack like you've described - occasional crash is all. Using it in AB - usually by itself into Loopy. No other fx app. Ios 7.02 iPad 4. I'm sure if I threw Flux or any other app in there I'd have issues
@Fitz my first thought: But this is the same as Audiobus. My second thought is: no this is better than Audiobus cause it has mix knobs for every in-app.
I have some bad experiences with using Bias FX and Tonestack in the AB envirement. I have air 2, but when I load them together after about half a minute I get a violent loud explosion sound, my air 2 is still alive after that, thank god, but it did sound terrible. Perhaps it is the same issue as Monzo talked about. I will not use Bias FX and TS together in Audiobus anymore. Hope this issue won't happen when I use Bias FX in TS.
@Marcel, also, on this setup, Oriental Strings doesn't have Audiobus. I tried to use Audioshare, but you can only have 1 instrument, so I couldn't call up SPA or Navichord easily. And yes, you can mix the levels, so no need for MiMix!
TS in-app doesn't have save state for the in-app. Just played and tested it , with Bias FX as in-app in TS. I don't like that aspect. You have to make notes for every setup you make..hmmm.
Can't seem to get Turnado to work inside Tonestack, but just had a lovely time putting an Auxy-driven Cyclop through Tonestack with Dedalus and FLUX as added IAA FX
I wish there was some way to MUTE the mic input in Tonestack when using it for IAA..(feedback city) ...took me a while to realise u can turn down input on the IAA tab...it would be nice to be able to just mute mic input as soon as Tonestack opens and then setup the chain...
Fantastic sounds...
You can mute the mic, it's in the settings somewhere. I haven't opened tonestack in a while but I know it's there.
Hmmm..I found how to turn it down but still feedback at lowest level even in headphones...
@monzo Turnado working for me iPad 3 and iPad Air 2.
Oh Wow, I have not tried this IAA stuff. Are those Turnado and Sunrizer knobs MIDI assignable?? That could be pretty huge
Here it is, under audio preferences.
Not sure ..no controller attached yet.. but I've got Midi Synth sending midi cc and notes to this setup as well..which is pretty amazing
I can't for the life of me figure out how to add an IAA effect? I want to use it, but nothing I try works, what's the secret?
You may have tried with an audiobus-only effect, +fx in the upper right corner opens effect section, scrolling down to iaa and selecting f.e. Aufx should function.
If you open tonestack as the effect in AB, have no input selected, and use speaker out you can do this, (rather defeats the object but stops the feedback from built in mic)
