Anyone used SoundWand yet?

I just got this and haven't had much time to play with it yet, since I've been told that I have to work for a living ;-) I did play around with it long enough to see that it worked well with several synth apps on the bus. This is one of the few controllers I've seen that seems better fitted to the iPhone or iTouch than an iPad or Ipad mini.

  • Looks very cool!

  • Could this be used live or would that be impossible if say soundman walked in front of you and accidentally played some notes of whatever instrument youve got set up at the time?

  • I still haven't got to put it through it's paces, but from what I've seen online, it supports virtual midi and network midi (wifi), so I can't see why it can't be used live. The network midi is supposed to be < 10mS for latency, so that shouldn't pose a problem. With virtual midi though, you could just cable your ios device to an amp/PA to be even safer, although waving it through the air with a cable attached sounds less than ideal. It would be nice to have AB compatibility, so you can start recording into a DAW or looper from the side panel.

  • I'm seeing that @Simon. Trying to nail down the control hasn't been easy for me, but its only been one day, so I'll keep trying.
