I'm trying to figure how IAA recording works and have no idea ( am I tired after night shift or what..? ) how to record IAA track. What I'm doing is - choose IAA instrument - it creates midi track ( some known issue with Alchemy at start but know how to make it sound) and then what? IAA track stays silent while playback. And it remains a midi track still ( how to get audio track from it?)
Many questions but maybe I'm simply tired and my thinking processes are affected
Any ideas and help is welcome guys - cheers
Sorry - edited - ok
As long as you have turned background audio on in Alchemy then you should be able to hear the IAA track play. (Works for me anyway)
2 ways to get an audio track (and there may be more)
1) save the project then share it as wav separate files
2) instead of using Alchemy as an instrument use it as a generator. Connect the midi up in Music Studio and record the audio as an audio track.
What do you mean by "connect the midi up in Music Studio and record the audio as an audio track" ? (Audiobus?)
Woohoo! Glad to see Music Studio opening up to the Appsphere. It has a good built-in midi sequencer.
No in the recording tab on music studio there's an option button that starts with mono (or stereo if you have an audio interface plugged in) press that and it brings up a dialogue box to select IAA
Select the app of your choice
Tick the play track with recording box
Then hit record.
Result should be an audio recording of the midi track.
First girlfriend (before Nanostudio whispered in my ear). Long ago deleted, but worth another run at now?
@JohnnyGoodyear I scored my first ever classical composition on that piano roll using the quite decent built in Sonatina soundfont instruments. Now I suppose I could swap in some excellent Miroslav instruments from SampleTank. I say give the girl another chance
BTW, thanks for the heads up, @BiancaNeve
Hi again - not giving up with trying out updated Music Studio. Thank you BiancaNeve for your previous comments. But... I tried to record audio track using midi track to play Sampletank instrument. So my steps are: new midi track, select instrument --> inter app --> Sampletank, record midi sequence, create audio track, open recording tab, select source --> inter app --> Sampletank and press record.. It works fine so far. Next step --> going back to tracks window and trying to record second track using Sampletank. But - error.. Midi track recorded first is quiet now (but not muted) - well - I delete this track and create new one and can not select again Sampletank as Music Studio shows an info ".. Can not use Sampletank as this instrument is already in use.." - is it a bug or I am missing something ? My goal is to record more than one audio track based on previously recorded midi sequence on midi track. This should be (if I am right) easily possible to perform if we record one midi track, then record audio track, then delete midi track and start again from scratch with one (still one) midi track allowing to record many audio tracks with only one IAA instrument like Sampletank or any you like.
I beg you to forgive my not clear description of this issue as I feel deadly tired after my lovely 12 ours shifts ))
Again - comments and help are very welcome
Cheers
One more word - it looks like a bug - the problem is gone after deleting midi tracks ( keeping all existing audio tracks) and restarting Music Studio. Then I can create and record midi track using the same IAA instrument and then re-record it in audio track.
I found sneaky trick that allows to play Music Studio screen keyboard (need to try physical keys as well) to control Yamaha AN2015 synth as IAA instrument and record midi track which can be played (with AN2015 in background). Never checked on forum if anybody could do this so maybe I am not the first to do this. But well known fact about AN2015 is that it doesn't want to be controlled by DAW's midi tracks. Tell me if I'm wrong as I'd really like to use this awesome synth with Cubasis (as midi track first).
It's not a bug. It's just a limitation of IOS you can only have one instance of an IAA app at a time.
Sorry for not clear description of the problem. I am not trying to use another instance of the same IAA app ( Sampletank in this example) - I tried to delete only midi track in my project and record again some midi sequence using the same IAA instrument. And this is not possible atm. I can put some screenshots with clear examples if it helps.
