The 'Golden Glue' IRs for Auria's convolution verb are (probably) the best verbs I've heard on iOS
Yes I like that pack, particularly the CreamyVox IR, but it's shame the plugin doesn't have any EQ controls. At least when Auria Pro (finally) comes out it will be possible to route an EQ after the AUX send (at least I hope so).
Wonder how good IR's compare to BIAS amp matching?
AUFX: Space is the one that gets used the most, since it runs efficiently and just works. However, I tend to use reverbs from the source instrument (guitar app, synth, etc.) more often than a separate app. It's just easier.
AltiSpace sounds amazing, but the convolution stuff is quite resource heavy on older devices. These are built into many DAW's, also, including Auria and MTDAW.
I always use at least 2 reverbs on iOS (since it lacks a REALLY good one due to CPU limits). My prefered are AudioReverb and AUFX:Space. I also have AD480 Pro but i don't like the UI and workflow there. I much prefer algorithmic reverbs over convolution since they are (mostly) more flexibel and less static.
The convolution reverb in Auria is quite nice. You can do a lot with it either on a bus, via Aux channel, or just as needed/multiple instances. Even the free classic reverb is useful. Not going to win any awards, but quite serviceable for tossing a gang of backing vocals toward the back of your mixing space.
For standalone, Audiobus FX slot reverbs, I seem to reach for AudioReverb most often. It covers most of the bases nicely.
@ChrisG, why is Mobile Convolution Reverb better than Altispace in every regard? noob fxer here!
you already got AD480free
why don't you get adAD480basic or pro?
I like it.
Took a look at AltiSpace, and it's been improved since I last tried it. But can't see any mention of it getting support for true stereo IRs in the update history (MCR supports those). MCR supports much longer IRs then AltiSpace (which is capped at 8 sec, while MCR is capped at 90 sec). More flexibility in shaping the IR beyond the regular ADSR-like controls (mirroring, stretching etc). MCR= much more flexibility in the wet/dry levels. MCR has importing and sorting options for IRs that won't drive you nuts (if you like your IRs, you'll probably be dealing with hundreds and hundreds of them so..), plus proper user presets etc. Both are good though, and AltiSpace will cover most needs, but if you are an IR fanatic you'll most likely want to go with MCR.
I don't know about best, but VisSyn's app produces surprisingly nice results even on older hardware. Here's someone else's iPad 2 running AudioReverb AND Tonestack:
Thanks for posting this vid. It would make a great promo for AudioReverb. Really, VirSyn makes great products all around in my experience.
