Make a Weird Noise Here
Not in any way intended as competition, a distraction or an alternative to the excellent Song of the Month thread - this is a place for your happy accidents, sound art, experimental doodlings, avant jazz noise, drones, accidentally discovered mind expanding patches, weird samples etc. that you want to share with the World but don't really fit anywhere else. No rules or anything, post as often as you like, you don't have to comment if you don't want to but if you do then try and keep in with the spirit of the thing. Finished/work in progress tracks would be wonderful, but also (for example) iVCS3 noises, Borderlands noodlings, apps pushed beyond the call of duty, bizarre samples and unfinished experiments all welcome here.

The hot water valve in our shower, slowly opened then closed over ~35 seconds.
4 streams in iDensity scanning at different rates, pitched +12 / +7 / 0 / -12.
I like that - some other interesting sounds on your Soundcloud page too
I'm tempted by iDensity, so nice to hear what it can do.
@monzo - I'd have nowhere to post this sorta thing without you starting this.
Soundscaper, TC11, maybe something else, recorded in Cubasis. Kinda trying to talk an excellent drummer friend into riffing over this, ala the Birdman soundtrack.
@vsmqu - most excellent neo-musique concrete. Nice job giving musical flow from such an unlikely source!
Recorded 2 dogs fighting over a rope using audioshare and Magellan Reverb cranked up.

I love that, you're getting some really good sounds out of Soundscaper, I struggle a bit with that one - like the graphics too
Yeah nice atmosphere, slightly scary - be interesting to hear this put through Sector or Borderlands..
This track features a bunch of noise patches I created for the iMS20. iMS20 only track.
Really nice, they don't sound typically iMS20 so good work there - inspired me to get that app out this weekend
You've got some wonderful music on your Soundcloud page - I love the Amida track in particular, beautiful, and your earlier tracks are very Zappa-esque!
Swear I just played this and my Jack went fucking bonkers in her crate! Flipping out.
I didn't hear the dogs like she did!
Thanks for your kind words. The iMS20 is a very capable synth, although programming can be a mindbender.
Thanks. Zappa is definitely an influence. Prog and Fusion are my main interests and influences. Amida is the very latest, just finished a few days ago...a test run of the Vocaloid software I recently bought. It only does Japanese at this point, but it does it very well with a bit of editing. The vocals are actually a Buddhist Mantra (my (Japanese) wife suggested it as a joke
). It didn't quite work out as expected as the mantra doesn't lend itself to verses at all so I cut it short. But, hey, happy accidents can be good too.
Sounds like something from 'Freesound's Greatest Hits'. Sets the mind running as to what to record over it...
I want to get into sound effects and iOS is amazing for that. So many apps that can make weird sounds, plus so many weird sounds in the world. Especially when you add some reverb.
@RustiK Yea my dog gets on high alert when I play it, even though he is one of the dogs in the recording. He is part pointer hound.
Ah right, hadn't heard of that one - doesn't look like we get that here, shame - sounds really good on your track.
Japanese market only for now. Hopefully they'll add an English vocaloid in the future.
Great thread idea @monzo
I'll post this... it's me trying to make Gadget sound as "acid" as I could... with some extra weird sound samples from TC-11 thrown in and some experimental effects on a sample from an interview with the Mad Professor.
I should disclose that I also posted this to the 'acid house' thread... but no one commented
...
I'll have a listen to the above tracks and share my thoughts shortly...
Thanks Matt, nice to see you in here
I like that track, reminds me a bit of System 7 - this is probably my favourite out the track's you've posted. Sorry I didn't comment before,I don't go in the acid thread. I like the Mad Professor samples, got a couple of his albums somewhere...
Yeah, it's great for non-singers like me, it'd make a great app too.
@vsmqu - that's a really creative bit of field recording! Great idea. I could see that being a great bed for a pretty dark and moody track.
@wigglelights - there's some lovely crazy stuff in there. I love TC-11 - it's great for stereo effects and scratches. I love the art work too!
@gmslayton pretty scary stuff!
@pichi - some nice sounds - particularly at the start. The stuff that sounds like metalic hits etc.. I have iMS20 but i've never understood / used it... one day
.
@monzo - where's yours? I love this thread... I'll post some more experimental stuff sometime soon - i'm aware mine is like a bit of a standard track (that could do with better EQing!) Glad you liked it though... It's not my favourite and it's not my normal genre but it was fun to made fairly quickly and I learnt something with the vocal sample processing.
Yes please, post some more tracks. I probably set the tone a bit too freaky by using the word 'weird' in the thread title, but really this is a thread for anything that doesn't fit within the traditional 'song' pigeonhole, so don't feel it has to be really whacky or experimental to fit in. It's just a little place for interesting things people fancy sharing.
This was the track I posted in SOTM, it's basically an Egoist/Cyclop live jam with a few frills - I'm a bit scared of spending too much time in Auria at the moment as two tracks I was working on became corrupted, so I'm back to my old live improvised racket. It's fairly horrible, but that was probably my intention:
I like it. It has a krautrock vibe to it — in particular it reminds me of Cluster, Moebius & Plank.
Ooh thanks I'll take that! I've got loads of their music so maybe I was channelling those guys! I noticed you mentioned Manuel Gottsching in another thread, he's one of my favourite guitarists - I do love the music from Germany in that era.
A darned annoying tap recorded on an iphone using the Zoom IQ7 Middle and side mic. I 'played' the tap, to bring out it's tonal range
Mangled and multitracked on the Desktop.
Thanks. The MS20 is a beast, but there are some good YouTube tutorials on it. I still haven't really got my head around the modular section fully ...
Yeah, I love that off kilter krautrock stuff. Cluster is probably the main reason I got into synths. I have them permanently on my ipod ... Zuckerzeit and Curiosum probably get the most plays. Gottsching is also permanently on my ipod. I can't tell you how many times I've played Blackouts.
And speaking of krautrock Faust is probably one of the poster boy bands for weird noises.
Yep love all of those, and Faust has been one of my favourite bands since I bought the Faust Tapes for 49p 35 years ago
Annoyingly they played a gig a few miles away and I only found out about it after the event
A friend put them on once too, and their first request was 'where can we hire a cement mixer?'
Wow, this thread is great. I'm really digging your Mother's Cock @monzo. It's cool to hear this type of stuff coming from this forum. This is encouraging me to dump some of my things I have relegated to the interlude folder.
Scariest tap I've ever heard! I liked the 'A secret life' track on your SC page - some Fripp and Eno sounds sneaking in via the back door...
Dump your interlude's here!
Thanks for the compliment - it's nice to hear the experimental stuff other iPad musicians are doing - it's a very strong platform for this type of music.
A very carefully thought out apostrophe absence there as regards your Mothers.
Let's make the water turn black...
I've just had a pleasing half hour with my new iDensity purchase, though buggered if I can record from the thing without clippinDRAFT SAVED 00:28
Glitch track made with various apps.
