Yes, no more teases......it's Audiobus Remote Protocol
Ok, but I don't need to change tv channels with AB. In all seriousness, any guesses on what that would do? I'm wondering if it is up to each dev to determine that.
Oh dear, AB Apple Watch control here we come
Discchord writes:
Late last week a bunch of apps were getting updates referring to, "support for the new secret upcoming app made by the Audiobus team." Today's DM-1 update gives us even further details, specifically mentioning that they've: "Added the (forthcoming) AudioBus Remote protocol."
This is an amusing opportunity for me. I've known about this "secret" app for a very long time, and have had access to beta builds for months... but I'm not allowed to talk about it. Being a blogger is weird. Everything I know can be classified into 3 categories:
Stuff I can talk about.
Stuff I can't talk about.
Stuff I can't talk about, but people have found out about it anyhow.
Thanks to DM-1's slip, and after a lengthy Skype call with Sebastian this morning, I can finally talk about a bit more!
Unfortunately that does not include what the app actually does. I'm also not allowed to show you any pictures, no matter how blurry I make them. Believe me, I tried.
What I can say
This is only the second app to be released by the Audiobus team, and that fact makes this momentous. The "Audiobus remote protocol" is doing something we've been able to do before, but in a much simpler and prettier package. Once again the Audiobus team will change the way many of us make music on our iOS devices. That change will happen this Thursday!
I can also reveal it will be fully supported by the following apps at release:
Holderness Media's Effects.
Positive Grid's JamUp and BIAS FX
A Tasty Pixel's Loopy HD
Kymatica's SECTOR
Fingerlab's DM1
Sometime in the very near future updates to Moog's Filtatron and Animoog should be available. Audanika's SoundPrism Electro already has an update submitted to Apple awaiting approval. Olympia Noise Co. Patterning will include support once that is ready for release.
All developers will gain access to the new app's SDK on Thursday as well. In the meantime all apps that support Audiobus will have limited, but still useful, support in the upcoming secret app at launch.

A wireless Camera Connection Kit would be awesome and I'm sure that's going to be possible sooner or later.iOS 9 is far from being out and I hope this secret app pushes the limits of Audiobus like never before.
I wonder if replies to a comment on the Internet could be classified as random.
So,no DAW like Auria or other hosts are on board (for now?).That makes me wonder...
Noise, yes.
My guess is that you can control all the audiobus connected apps via remote. e.g. turn effects on and off, start loopy recording, etc.
Remote, oooo very intrigued. Any chance you guys are going to stick with the "Secret App" theme, and "secretly release it early, and take advantage of all of us hungry app junkies?
al;djfai a;e a;9ur323yr 3 afh2cnq[ 3i[arn fj23;rhav rn3fa8h; a 441i i3;afy8;v3!
Every Audiobus compatible app is already compatible with this. And there's at least one DAW developer who is looking into making their upcoming DAW take advantage of it.
I like how you hype this by the secrecy! Good tactic to make us buy it, i mean that in a good way. I think I have a clue... Is it audio/midi synch improved and better switching between apps? Pretty interface. Oh, and it will be to be less cpu intensive. I have had apps crash in audiobus that would not crash otherwise. Like tonestack: never crashes! But if I put this in audiobus with no addition apps it can crash and I have to set latency to 256 as opposed to my prefered 126 with real-time audio fx.....
My guess is you can have 1,2,3...apps in Input, A,B,C apps in effect, one DAW as Cubasis with armed tracks as C1,C2,C3... and you can start tweaking ansy apps in the order what you want, in the way what you want, choose the destination, automatise that...and/or play live recording over, as you were a film editor.
Just push "play" and start recording a drum pattern starting in DM1 and automatically or live changing to Elastic Drums (if able), without playing stop, switching effects in the same way, mutting, etc.
Or maybe I'm crazy.
everyone who knows seems to think of this as a game changer.
My finite brain can't imagine how a "remote" could really make such a big difference, but i'm ready to be blown away
I've barely gotten used to the last game changer!
That hype was creted by Sebastian himself Afair he said it's something"completely new" but also "users have done that before but now you can do it in a much easier way" or something like that
And than all this secret whatever thing...it didn't worked for me,i'm still only medium excited because the only two things i really miss are:A full blown DAW like the upcoming Auria Pro and rock solid sync. All other (audio) needs are covered for me.
But it's only the second app created by the Audiobus team and the first one WAS a game changer...
Tim from Discchord seems to think it is a big deal too
"Once again the Audiobus team will change the way many of us make music on our iOS devices."
Is not Thursday yet? Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
'Audiobus Remote Protocol' says nothing about the 'app', it's just one of it's features as I interpret it
So. @Sebastian. Thank you very much, and I can't wait to see it in action. What a tease... You really enjoyed that. Actually it was quite a fun way to introduce it to the world.
Yeah, but this time it will be from the couch lying on our backs over bluetooth and wifi.
disclaimer: see Tim's google account profile picture
music on the throne.. ;-b
Looking the the slightly pervy account profile picture I'd say wireless audio between devices, if that's the case latency should be pretty low too
In this case i don't have even usage for it.I use only my iPad for music.
Yes, and if the price doesn't follow Takete's stellar one, I don't think that many people will resist
Thank you. I was hoping we could all have a little fun with this. It's tricky to tease something without adding too much hype. All I know is that I'm enjoying our next product quite a lot, the whole team (Mike, Gabriel[who did almost all of the coding on this] and I) all hope you will, too.
Now back to writing press releases...
Is it an audiobus implementation of a tri-part algorithmic assessment tool for sending feedback to Korg about Gadget?
Is it WIST reinvented?
What about morphing between presets?
Cool down dude. It's gonna be alright. Don't get swept by all that remote talk. Let's see what Thursday brings.
