Need help with Stereo/Mono (TRRS/TRS/TS) technicalities!
Hi my fellow iOS musicians! I'm a busker and have been figuring out how to utilize Korg Module + stomp pedal effects into a Roland Mobile Cube for my live performances. There is very little information out there specifically for this and thought some of you might know how to go about doing it!
My main issue with this is the going about purchasing the right cables with the right jacks so I don't end up shorting anything or ruining any of the devices. The devices have their input/output as follows:
- iPad with Korg Module: TRRS Output for left/right/mic/ground
- Effects Pedal: 1/4" TS (Mono) In/Out
- Roland Mobile Cube: Left (Mono) /Right 1/4" Plugs, Aux In, Red/White 1/8" In
After a week of research, I've come up with this but am unsure if it would work. Please correct me if I have made a mistakes in any of the steps!
1) Split the iPad TRRS into mic/headphone outputs with

2) Run a 1/8" TRS to 1/4" TRS into the effects pedal from the headphone split of the iPad
(this step I am most unsure about because my effects pedal uses TS plugs and I read that summing TRS directly into TS through a simple cable will ruin some audio output devices - in this case the iPad Air)

3) Run a 1/4" TS to 1/4" TS cable into Roland Mobile Cube's Mono 1/4" Plug
Do I have to configure the iPad Air and Korg Module to output to mono as well?

We need more info to be able to offer any advice. Are you plugging in a guitar or keyboard? What effects pedal are you using? Module is a midi sound module so I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish.
I am plugging in the iPad as though it was a keyboard
Into a TC Helicon Harmony Singer (I left out the pedal details intentionally because with it comes another set of XLR ins and outs which are already figured out!)
Are you trying to route the iPad/Module out through the TC Helicon singer into the amp or are you going to sing through the Helicon? Maybe I'm dense but I still need more info.
@yowza I am trying to route the iPad/Module through the Harmony Singer for the chord information needed for the pedal to create vocal harmonies when I sing through it! So 1 Instrument + 1 XLR into the pedal and 1 Instrument + 1 XLR out of it both into the amp
Normally when I run it with a guitar it's a really simple set up of 1/4" mono TS Instr In + Out , XLR Mic In + Out. But now I need help cause the Module outputs through the iPad TRRS in stereo unless specified!
This is from my notes, just in case it comes in useful later:
a 3.5mm 4-conductor iPad plug: ⎮⊐∎⊐∎⊐∎⊃
☞ sleeve ;☞ ring; ☞ ring ; ☞ tip
in the above order:
☞ mic ; ☞ earth ; ☞ right ; ☞ left
mic impedance 1K6, headset button shorts mic to earth
