As we do not have control about MTDAW (for example) while starting a recording session I would really appreciate a count-in. Any ideas to that?

Not only count-in but also during recording some kind of metronome.

@danielclay - if you're using Multitrack DAW you can have it "click during play" and "click during record" which will give you what you're talking about. There is no count in function there yet, but I just allow for a few bars of preroll and it works for me.
