I know its expensive for an iOS app but compared to say Native Instruments Symphonic packs it is super cheap.
How are the sound compared to Native Instruments? Does anybody have any Native Instruments sounds to compare them with?
Also the file sizes are massive on the desktop, but ?I think this stands up pretty well and considering you can't get Kontact on iOS this does sound fantastic, I hope Christian now make his other apps AB compatible
I recently got Kontakt, and I think a lot of times it's hard to say when symphony sounds are better vs. just different. I've used IK Miroslav on desktop for awhile, and the stock Kontakt instruments didn't immediately sound way better, but different. I discovered my favorite sound is layering the two together.
With Kontakt, you kind of layer and build your orchestra, whereas it seems most of the iSymphonic presets are whole sections sounds. There is so much you can do in Kontakt (a lot of which I haven't actually done yet) to manipulate sounds compared to iSymphonic (i.e. eq, sound processing, keyswitching). I don't think iSymphonic is going to give you anything drastically better than Kontakt, but it will be a different flavor. If you really want something that's just iOS, it's a good option. It's all personal choice if you find the flavor worth the cost.
When I first got iSymphonic, I found the sound amazing. After getting Kontakt, I find the treble a little harsh at times, but I need to spend some more time with both to add any kind of cement to my current opinion.
The main thing isymphonic lacks are more articulations and control of your sound. Of course you get tons of things for Kontakt (but the third party libraries are much better) but yes, they are more expensive and really large. What could be interesting are some better solo instruments for isymphonic. I also prefer to put together my own orchestra.
