  • Beautiful + Useful! Thank you @solador78

  • @solador78 awesome job, thank you very much.

  • edited July 2015

    That looks amazing. Thanks!

Can't wait to download for some full joy.

  • Have you managed some kind of beat repeat? Is that the difference between trigger and spring modes?

  • Love the graphics by the way.

  • That is fantastic, @solador78! Thanks very much.

  • Oh my Bag!! @solador78 You really have done us all a great service here... I was expecting that Tokyo randomizer first up , though @Matt_Fletcher_2000 's randomizer kind of works for that, the idea of having a proper interface to tweak it up after randomising is still making me wriggle with anticipation...
But this...... This really brings the samplers to life... Especially the Abu Dhabi..
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 you still have to turn the repeats on for the samples in Abu Dhabi manually .... But thats when it really gets crazy :) .. The spring back just defaults back to centre ... And is a very nice useful feature.. It would be difficult to work out where to put control of the repeat in the pirate Maschine interface as it stands..
Both korg and TB midi should be bombarding both you boffins with freebies for this..
If only today wasn't so full of chores to do I could play this more..
Has anyone noticed that the Marseille randomizer seems to add hugely long decay to each sound that is not controllable by the gadget interface?? Is it turning on an internal looping or something? Is there a particular slider in TB midi that can fix it? It's a great effect but becomes a bit 'samey' after awhile... That said it really liberates some of those twee generic samples in there :)

  • Thanks! Glad you guys like it. I think I've maxed out what's possible based on the currently available functions in TB and the CCs in Gadget. We could do some really cool things if Gadget allowed program changes, had channels, and sent/received all messages.

As far I can tell, there's no way to do a drum roll function on a drum or x/y pad. It can be done with TB's keyboard, but that involves juggling two BPMs, because TB doesn't send clock.

Trigger mode triggers a sound when you touch one of the MK II X/Y Pads. I like to tap out or program a quick, vanilla, 2 bar drum pattern in Bilbao and then record/tweak it over 50+ measures with the X/Y Pads. I'll toggle the Trigger on/off so that I can selectively improvise on top of the pattern with quick hits.

Spring mode will return an MK II X/Y pad back to default center (64, 64) when you release a pad. It won't affect any other X/Y Pads that are set until you touch and release them. This is useful for pitching a drum roll during a break and then letting it spring back to the root pitch, as an example.

    Is it the damper?

    Is it the damper?

Ah yes... It seems when the damper is above 60 or so every looped sample goes into infinity ... Thanks..
Not to nitpick but it would be great if the marseille randomiser had all the knobs in the top half of the screen so you could have the keyboard up at the same time...
Hmmm maybe I should look into editing it up myself rather than bother you guys about that ..

  • Just realized that there's a bug with Abu Dhabi where everything is on Reverse after I swapped Decay for Hold. Hold is so much better for Bilbao that I forgot to put Decay back Abu. Sorry guys!

I have a mostly completed Marseille template with a keyboard probably up next.

  • Thanks... That saved me some time getting to know the TB midi ins and outs .... Though that's not necessarily a good thing ;-)
Tokyo.... Don't forget... :) You already teased us with that kinky JPEG... Though mostly the gadget interface is aok for tweaking and recording in that one... But still xy fx pad and great big fx send buttons as well as randomising wouldn't go amiss...
Hats of to you señor @solador78

Maybe it needs a Bilbao/Abu functions switch over switch :) .. They definitely aren't the same animal

I wish it were that simple! I'll have a sexy new stand-alone Abu Dhabi for you shortly.

  • Here's the updated version:

    https://www.sendspace.com/file/irdh55

This canvas snapshot contains 1.01 for both Bilbao and Abu Dhabi.

  • Had a quick play... It's extremely cool.

Beat repeat, i'm thinking, would be possible in Abu by having the Y of the pads mapped to the 'repeat' cc. If over 64 then it will switch the repeat on. Might be quite cool. I could probably try it simply by re-assigning the pitch cc that's being sent to be 'repeat'.

    Possibilities are endless really.

Annoying thing for me is that most of the pads in my Abu and Bilboa have lots of 'not assigned' by the pitch and other parameters. I think that's me messing with the cc assignments in Gadget in the past. It's annoying there is no way in Gadget to set all the cc assignments back to the factory settings (which is what these TB templates work with) but i don't think there is.

    Amazing work anyway @solador78

Thanks again! Good idea to manually reassign the Repeat CCs. Would be nice if Korg assigned them automatically in the future so that I can add it as a feature.

  • Hi Solador
This looks great, very generous of you to share, thanks!
The download should "Open in" presumably Gadget itself?
Gadget isn't one of my Open in options, so unable to get at it

  • I didn't realize I owned tb midi stuff, not sure when I bought. I can't wait to try this now!
