Cubasis/ AudioBus cannot hear audio from some apps.

All apps working ok but when some are connected to Cubasis through AB, the audio disappears. The routing seems ok so a wee bit confused. The CPU meter is stuck on the apps where there is No Audio. Any advice much appreciated. Some examples.

INPUT. EFFECTS. OUTPUT. CPU Meter

Guitarism. Nil. Cubasis working (sound) Moving
Guitarism. Slash amplitude. Cubasis (no sound) Stuck halfway
Guitarism. Amp kit. Free Cubasis working. (Sound) Moving
Synthecaster. Nil. Cubasis (no sound). Stuck full
Firo. Nil. Cubasis working. (Sound). Moving

Thanks. Was looking forward to a weekend of music making but now.............

  • Hi @Bluepunk

The only thing I can think of or suggest is to shut all apps down, then start with Audiobus first - then tap the output slot and load Cubasis - then once Cubasis has loaded and switched back to Audiobus load the input slot then the fx slot if you're using any.

If you need to load a new instrument into the input slot, then close all apps first (including Audiobus and Cubasis) and repeat the above mentioned process.. Hassle, I know.. But this should work in most cases..

  • Thank you @RUncELL I gave that a go & did manage a grunt from Synthcaster. With the CPU sticking as well, I started another track & Synthcaster is back alive in Cubasis.

I'm iPad 4 so thought it would be enough for 8 tracks! Until Christmas (new iPad) it looks like I'm going back to the 70,s & keep it to the basics. Not a bad thing with the style I enjoy. Thanks again.

  • I've found that when I change instruments at the input slot without shutting all apps down first, sometimes (not very often) Cubasis gets a little confused.. And if you then shut Cubasis down, it saves that little confusion (along with your arrangement) and reloads it when you start up again !!

Best thing to do when this happens is, like you did, start a new arrangement and be sure to close down then start up when changing instruments.

Very interesting. Have you contacted Steinberg about this yet?

Hi Sebastian, I've not contacted Steinberg because it doesn't happen very often, I've found that Cubasis is fine most times when changing instruments at input slot but if there is a problem, then the problem tends to still exist (with that Cubasis arrangement) after shut down and restart. It doesn't affect me now because I always shut down and restart when changing input slot.

Also I'm not running the latest ios, Cubasis or Audiobus versions. Thanks for taking interest, I'm sure it's not Audiobus :)

  • Hi @RUncELL & @Sebastian I agree, don't think it's AudioBus as some instruments I CAN hear the audio. I have asked Cubasis & am awaiting an answer. Thanks for the Housekeeping tips & I will do the same, (Not just for this issue, good practice I feel). Close the apps then start again. Thanks for your time.

Could you elaborate on your workflow? I.e. Are you recording audio or midi tracks (or both)? Im horrible at documenting my sessions, but it seems that I've needed to use IAA for certain apps, cubasis just seems to like that better than AB sometimes.
    Good luck!

  • Hi @wigglelights thanks, yes recording both audio & midi tracks. Only had Cubasis a short while but for this track I used AB for the 2 audio tracks:

    1. Guitarism. Slash Amplitube. Cubasis
    2. Synthcaster. Nil effects. Cubasis.
    • 6 tracks of midi instruments from Cubasis.

I'm leaning towards CPU but not knowledgeable enough to really know. I will try your suggestions when I get back home & I appreciate your time. Thanks.
