New Amidio and Seline Redux Release

(Duplication from comment, but wanted to reach out and ensure people heard me.)

Eric here from the new Amidio. Sorry that I was unaware of this forum until today. (Once I sign in as a developer, I don't have the option for this user forum. Kinda odd!) Anyway, Glad to have found it now! Thanks to murdockscott.

Finding that readers of this forum and other places may not have seen my other notifications about the re-launch of Seline as Seline Redux, I have reduced the price back to introductory price of FREE for the weekend. Previous owners will need to email me from the App to get IAPs restored.

The recent Amidio story has gone something like this. I purchased the Amidio brand and most of the active Amidio products including: TouchDJ, Mint.io, OMGuitar, and Futulele last Fall, after the previous master developer had decided to place his efforts elsewhere. I worked to get these products stabilized and included some minor enhancements. I have put out 15 updates to Amidio Apps, hopefully each an improvement of the previous.

Learning about many other previous Amidio products, went back to the developer and also purchased Seline and Songineer. With highest demand for Seline, I spent some real effort to improve and re-release. There are many other Amidio Apps that people have loved and felt let down by the lack of support. Sorry that it does not seem to make sense for me to get any others!

Seline Redux has been released as a new App rather than an update to the old app. This would have given me extra features by Apple, but just a few weeks prior to launch they changed that policy. Arg! Major updates are often problematic for developers especially indie’s like myself, because it does not give the option to get paid for their work.

I want to treat past purchasers fairly and have been restoring sounds to any previous user that asks. Right now I'm working to release "Seline Redux Pro" as an update to the old App. The plan is that previous users will get everything you had and much more. I had hoped to get this out sooner, but thing seldom go as fast as planned and now I'm also hooking up for Audiob.us Remote features.

Thank you for your support and keep the feedback coming. Remember, email me from the App to get IAPs restored!

Eric

  • Which app do we email you from? The old one or the new one?

  • Good question :)

  • You need to email from the new Seline Redux App. That gives me a unique install ID that I can use to generate a restore link.

  • Done. Thanks for letting us know Eric, and welcome to the best forum on the net.

  • I'd forgotten how nice some of the sounds were in Seline. Nice to have it back!

    No doubt!

  • I got Seline Redux just a few weeks ago, never had the original. I love it. easy to play, and I got three or 4 of the sound packs, the sounds are great. It's one of my most used apps at the moment, mostly just for messing around, because it's easy and fun to use.

How will I get to take advantage of Seline Redux Pro? Will that be an IAP, or a different app than what I have now? Just curious.

    Thanks.

    Jason

  • Jason - Thanks for your support!

Seline Redux Pro is really just an upgrade path for previous purchasers of Seline Ultimate. You will have everything available to you in current version. I'm still figuring out the details, but trying to recover from some questionable advice I got that led me to release Seline as a new app. The non-upgrade release has caused me 2 problems. 1) A manual process to upgrade previous owners and 2) opening Amidio up to bad press from the users that do not realize that I have built a process to restore IAPs across the 2 apps.

  • Understood, I do remember reading some places that users were upset, I did mention once place that I had seen you mention about the free upgrade for previous owners, I think it was on the ipad musicians page on FB...maybe....

daunting task of manual notification and upgrading for users, I;m sure. ...

  • Bad press can be tough to overcome, but if the app is good it is possible. I'm really enjoying it. It took some time to recall how to turn the drone on and off, set scales, and toggle legato, but it came back. Very nice app Eric.

  • I am also struggling with the details. It's great that it's a little different, but finding the way is a little tricky. As is always the thing you begin blaming yourself, but quickly blame the app (It's Not Working!!!)....when, of course, it IS you and it's easy when you know how.

It's been a long while since I spent any real time with Seline, but I remember being puzzled last time round as well, but then figured it out. Unfortunately muscle memory doesn't extend that far back and I have been puzzled all over again. I think I've got it mostly sorted now BUT would rec. a quick, simple, video if The Sound Test Room hasn;t done one already.... :)

  • Many of the Amidio Apps were short on help. I have not updated the detailed help but there is a help overlay you can get to by tapping the question mark [?]. Thought that would give the biggest bang for the effort.

  • I have to say I miss having a working version of Hexatone. It was a very unique app.

  • Welcome Eric.

  • I still really enjoy mint.io, get lost in it for ages.

Hi Eric, thanks for the redux for Seline, thanks for joining this forum, and thanks for working on redux-ing our purchased IAPs!
Any chance for a noise.io redux?

  • Glad to hear you enjoy Mint.io (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id585905223). It was one of the first Amidio apps I worked to improve. I added some help as a youtube video series: I improved the random sequences to add variety. Stability fixes and updates for iOS changes. There really is so much there under the covers. I find that the drum sequencer in itself is cool and could be pulled out and expanded into a cool drum machine and MIDI sequencer. See my 5 channel MIDI experience here (last is previous playlist):

Since you mentioned it and not many units have moved at $5.99US, I have gone ahead and dropped the price to $2.99US for the rest of the weekend if any other Audiobus users would like to pick it up at a discount. A couple of 5 star reviews from UK on the latest version, but not much else. I would like to hear what people think.

  • Interesting. Had this for a while but never made much of it/with it. Will take a look at the choobs.

    @AmidioInc
Mint.io is a very cool playground and has a lot of further potential

    Is there hope for Noise.io?

  • Mint.IO is definitely a top notch groovebox. And very fun to use as well, which usually = good for creativity.

Have a fully upgraded version of Seline Ultimate on my pad. I'd just be happy if that audiobus popup would disappear w/ an update at this point. :) Tried the Redux version and definitely like the key layout on that on a lot more then the one in Ultimate. So will eventually jump ship to Redux. :)

  • Eric, Glad I could help. It sounds like you inherited a bit of a mess and I for one am very appreciative that you are taking it on. Hopefully being here will generate some useful feedback and help spreading the word that these apps are well supported again. Good luck, and thanks again for taking care of a long time user so well.

  • @murdockscott - Turning me on to the Audiobus forum certainly made my day! And to think I came to work today thinking I'd do some coding! Problem is in the end, I'm just one developer with a dozen apps and seems that I'm often competing against single apps with a whole company behind them. Hope I don't let down too many people, but I thrive on user input, so that works!

  • @AmidioInc - You've set a good standard with so many updates...and those numbers have surpassed many developers large and small. If you can stay on pace, I've a feeling that you'll win at this thing.

So what's the status with Songineer??? That always looked intriguing.

Do you know if the previous owners ever got very far with...I think it was called DrumFire? It was supposedly in development.

Now, I'm going to finally treat myself to mint.io and Seline!

    Good luck!

  • @TozBourne I have not heard of drumfire. I know they had mentioned a DAW, but don't know anything about any of their apps that were never released.

I actually know very little of Songineer. I have seen the youtube videos like: and know that I was able to compile the code and produce something that looked similar and seemed to work. Have not tried to figure how much work it is going to require to get a stable app. I would say the previous developer generally left me in good shape, but he had indicated at one time that Songineer needed some work. The reviews indicated some of problems.

All of the Amidio Apps are highly complex with lots of features and the code is old but has for the most part been otherwise okay to work with. I just hope for a chance to recoup my expenses. Stay tuned.

  • The old developer liked my vid on MINT.io, check the comments:-)

  • Hi Eric, it's nice to see you here, all the best, I didn't realise Mint.io had midi, so I've just picked it up, having owned several Amidio apps for quite a few years, it's nice to see some TLC being invested in them again, I've just upgrade my Mini to 8.4 and installed Seline Redux on it, I'll send you an email from within it, I think it was fully upgraded, but on the old version, no store appears.

Understandable, thats a nice example of the potential contained in Mint.io. One of the best pieces of music I have heard made with it for sure. Well done.
