These types of covers are my favorites. When someone takes an electronic/hard rock/Metal/etc song and plays it raw on an acoustic guitar or piano, its just amazing.
On the flip side, I also like heavily acoustic, piano songs that get turned into rock/electronic/etc.
I always wanted to do a double album. One being raw acoustic sounds and the other being rock/electronic versions of the same songs.
Is that even really a song? Seems more like, I don't know, a pile of crap. Really sad what passes for music these days. The question then arises, why cover a pile of crap?
So no one steps in it.
I think that version works really well actually. Not that I'm a huge fan of this song, but in 1920 people were saying that about jazz, in 1950 people were saying that about bebop, in 1955 about Elvis, in 1964 about the Beatles, in 1985 about run dmc, etc., etc.
The cover is better than the original. She put in some of her own ideas to flesh it out. I thought the original was horrible - a single kindergarden level melody played with some really horrible synth patches. But I guess that is what makes it teen music - it has all the elements to annoy the older generation...and it's obviously popular with the 'festival' crowd....I guess it's no worse than Disco Duck.
The girl or the song?
I agree, and this cover is great
Do you like that song "Animals" by Martin Garrix? No not really. Her performance was technically nice however.
You've pretty much nailed my thoughts. New, distinct sounds always seem to bring out the get-off-my-lawn crowd. Enjoyed this cover version; thanks for sharing, @RustiK.
The "dub-steppy" dynamics of modern dance music are pretty polarizing. Before turntable.fm shut its doors, I can remember going to a lot of indie and electronic rooms that had strict "no wub-wub" rules in place.
The problem is that the piano makes it sound even more like Journey's "Wheel In The Sky"...
