Latency question
I'm about to turn the latency switch on audiobus to 126 frames. My question is:
Does it mainly impact CPU or will Ram be affected too?
My air 2 has CPU to spare but RAM as usual is never enough.
Comments
I'd say mostly CPU. I'm also on Air 2...
It should only affect CPU.
Cool, cheers. I'll give it a go tomorrow and report back. Are you on 128 and running multiple app presets? @Samu
@supadom I'm using 256 to avoid 'hickups' and 'static' that sometimes appear when running multiple apps that tax the cpu.
On an Air 2 you should be able to comfortably run 128 in an AB chain, but of course there are limits, so it depends on exactly what you have running.
I'm running my usual live preset with loopy, sunrizer, Magellan, samplr, mimix, and turnado. Since I got Air 2 I stopped using my iPhone as a guitar effect and included it in my AB preset. So yeah, it is quite heavy going but all of the effects (which seem to be the culprits of latency issues in most cases) and the only synth I use are of the most stable and cpu gentle that I could find.

I quickly run tHis preset last night and everything seems to run ok. I've had a couple of light single glitches but that sometimes happened at 256 so maybe it isn't latency related.
I also woke up this morning to Michael's test flight email saying he's found a way to improve latency issues in Air 2 in latest version of loopy. What a great timing!
