Borderlands Granular Pads Tutorial – haQ attaQ 75
I’ve basically been asked to do an in depth tutorial on making pads with Borderlands Granular. So here it is! This entire project has taken me about twenty two hours to make and I am quite satisfied with the result.
What you’ve got in front of you is a very in depth tutorial where I am explaining every thing from sampling to setting up nodes and sample position/placement techniques.

Great video sir Haq. The sounds were gorgeous, and it was apparent you had fun with it. I tried to recreate it, but my iPad just keeps showing my face ;-)
Thanks Jakob. Very useful/encouraging/valuable.
Awesome tutorial. I have been playing with Borderlands more and more. Unlimited possibilities.
Dear Jakob,
I want to thank you once again for a superb video. Your tutorials are a joy to watch and your enthusiasm and creativity are so inspirational. You are my ios music making hero
I have a request for a future video topic that might be of interest for other people as well. With the abundance of available ios apps I often find my self frustrated when making music. I'm stuck with a lot of small loops or musical ideas that I never finish. The reason being that I approach music making to rational and often get stuck in the ammount of sonic options available, and postponing decisions about what apps and sounds to use, how to structure musical ideas, etc. Although I know you can't buy inspiration and skill in a bottle and we should all value our individual approaches to music making, I'd love to see you do an extended video about these problems I touched upon regarding composition, staying inspired, workflow, making choices, etc. Thanks again for your hard work and I'm looking forward to future episodes of Haq Attaq.
@Maarten That's a great idea for a video, I'll think about that too since me and Colin Powell AKA AlterEgo UK are about halfway through "The Haunting Of Sally Caster" album, which put me right in the "Must finish a track mode".
And yes Jakob another fantastic and brilliant video, you are a genius man, a true inspiration to all of us
Thanks for this brilliant video. As it has been already said, it's really inspiring and makes me want to spend the night experimenting. Really great job !
Great video!
Doug, how hard would it be to create a patch for the Cubasis sampler from the sounds that Haq made towards the end of the video. I really like that sound!
I too would also like to see a video on finishing a track.
And of course great job Jakob!
I am sooooo close to pulling the trigger on Borderlands after seeing this. Nice work, Jakob!
Do it.
Gotta run it by my accountant
Haha! Yeah I get that. I snagged it when it was on sale and kicked myself for not doing it sooner. No pressure though.
Also try sending Borderlands to DFX with one part of DFX as long Long Reverb. It's deadly
Again, lots of Namaskar to Jakob...
Just so you know, it is one of the ones.
I know, even had a chance to grab it at the Intro sale price, but ended up going all in for iDensity 2. Anyone who has both care to compare the two with a few quick adjectives?
I use iDensity 300% more than Borderlands.
Why?
Wow, so many comments, thank you all for that! Sitting on the bus on my way home from work, just trying to catch up!
It feels like there's more options in iDensity. Everything I do in Borderlands tends to sound similar but that's maybe because I am not wholly familiar with it. But in terms of sheer number I'm pretty sure iDensity has around twice as many knobs & switches to play with.
Do you use different sounding waveforms to start with?
Couldn't figure out how to get anything into Borderlands before watching this video, so thanks Jakob!
yeah, never the same wav files. usually if i'm in something like Borderlands or iDensity, it's to mess with vocals, so iDensity fits my goal better w/ the waveform scrubbing.
I do like Borderlands, i just use iDensity more.
