I'm so excited for this update and I love that video! Seen it like a dozen times already.
Been REALLY enjoying Elastic Drums having gotten past the (relatively painless) "a-HA!" moment(s) / learning curve.
A true gem.
Update is here, jam panel is a great feature
They seriously need to update the manual for this app - not only doesn't it cover this update, it's a manual just for the iphone version!!
I have an issue, on my iPhone in the arrange mode I like to switch between pattern selections quickly to create variations while the sequencer is playing, and when I touch another pattern the sound changes instantly, but on my iPad there is an interval/ pause before the pattern changes after the touch..... I really need it to work on the iPad like it does on the iPhone, is anybody else experiencing this??? any solutions????
Just had some quick fun with it. Fantastic update!
Great update - loads of fun.
This could totally tip me over the edge to getting another idevice!
man...just when i want to pull the trigger on patterning...this pops up How well does it sync to cubasis (as IAA)?that's a hit or miss for me and patterning seems to do this right.
well patterning has probability and sample import so it's a different animal, they are far different enough to have both, especially at patterning price and after Ben irons out the kinks and puts in the creases
I know the answer is always"get them all"but for now i would be happy about some sync experiences as IAA in cubasis
Here you go @Crabman. Patterning via IAA into Cubasis, simple Cubasis drums panned one channel, patterning into the other. Seems to keep pretty solid sync.

It LOOKS interesting, yes but unfortunately i can't hear it.I get this when i click on the link
Anyway i meant sync of Elastic Drums (maybe compared to patterning),Patterning seems to do it right. Thanks nonetheless for your post!
@Crabman sorry about that. don't know why the link doesn't work for you, I don't have elastic drums so can't post a comparison of that for you to look at
There now is a manual for the latest version of Elastic Drums - although the screenshots are all for the iPhone version.... Better than nothing though, time to RTFM I guess then!

Thanks! I always seem to end up noodling with this app on my iPhone anyway.
So I had a proper play with the new features - specifically:
the Bass synth type
the Jam page
For me this makes this app a lot more useful and playable... You can create some quite nice, simple but moving basslines now - using automation on the filter for example. So you can have a drums and bassline groove going much more easily. And then pepper with some minimal synth bleeps.
The new Jam page is really great. It feels like it's got some really well thought out playing features that you might find on really expensive hardware drum machines. I love the rolls, the stop, the freeze and firing off the delay particularly. I yet to fully figure out the param and swing to be honest.
The two things together mean you could conceivably jam out a whole minimal dub techno type jam on the fly just using ED. I might have a go.
The usual concerns arise though, when I consider how I could use this in part of a larger production. Possibly getting a sequencer to trigger the Jam effects so i could tweak and ensure there were no mess ups. Then I guess either recording the whole thing as one long track. Or chopping up into different 1 bar loops - but then there's always the messy bit where the cool delay or the release on hits towards the end of the bar cut off etc... So mixing and matching these one bar samples isn't likely to work (although I could try I guess).
One day I might drive the whole thing with Auria Pro...
Cool update though.
