N-track studio now has Audiobus

Folks, here is a Multitrack recorder that has Volume automation, and some effects for only $4.99!!! More killer effects for $1.99! I've used the PC version forever and I think its great!
https://iTunes.apple.com/us/app/n-track-studio-multitrack/id423520070?mt=8
here's the official breakdown:
--n-Track Studio is an audio multitrack recorder that turns your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into a full-fledged recording studio. You can record and playback a virtually unlimited number of audio tracks, mix them during playback and add effects.
You can also edit, cut, copy and paste, zoom and drag waveforms.
All the audio tracks are saved as standard wave files and mixed "on the fly" during playback.
Once you are satisfied with the recording you can send it by email with a touch of the finger. Or you can mixdown the recorded song in standard .wav or .m4a format which you can later open with any 3rd party audio application or use to create an audio CD. You can also export the song in multitrack .sng format and open it with the desktop (Mac and Windows) version of n-Track.
2nd and 3rd generation iPod Touch devices require an external mic.

  • Ps: I just tried it. Once you turn off the Mic input any instrument goes straight into Ntrack and records smooth like MTD or Cubasis. Has features like Reverb, Pitch shift, Compression, Track equalization, Chorus, Echo, Tremolo, and Phaser. (For the $1.99 add on.)

  • @NoiseHorse This app got some pretty bad reviews. Crashing seems to be a major issue. Being unable to delete tracks another. Can you confirm if these issues were fixed?

  • holy crap. This was one of the first DAWS i ever used on PC. Had no idea it was still in developement even. Cool!

  • Pretty bad-ass! Can do 24 bit/192 khz, has spectral analysis and fx. Givin MT some competition.

I have zero crashing so far. I've also deleted tracks very easily last night. Everything that I've tried works very smoothly on this edition.

Beware. Decided to give this daw a shot. Every time I click on touch to add effects it crashes. Emailed Dev will update.

  • Quick response from Dev.
    Morris,

we are aware of the issue, we are working on fixing the problem on the next update that will be online next week (depending on Apple's review timeline).
Note that the crash occurs only when clicking on the effects list on the left side of the tracks, effects work correctly when clicking on the effects list in the track mixer view on the right, that appears clicking on a track and then on the mixer button in the lower right corner of the screen.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Flavio Antonioli.

  • Thanks for the info mgmg4871 I was going to try this, but now, I think I'll pass for now. If the devs were "aware of the issue" then why release it. Apart from that glitch, how are you finding the app in general?

@mgmg4871 - thnx for the heads up!

@horse - dude, are you the dev or friend of dev? You say no crashing and the very next review, crash from one of our regular members for a pretty basic function which is sold as a benefit, fx.

  • Besides the crashing I really like this app. Also there is a workaround for the crashing that works.

  • Oh okay. Apologies to noisehorse.

  • @gjcyrus: I'm just a regular dude like everybody else here. I like ntrack cause I've used it since 1995 and its comfortable for me. I'm not fibbing when said I had no crashes so far. We can't all crash at the same time! I typically like Auria best for making music because of automation and the effects (got it on the 1/2 price sale day) but I was just excited to see my old DAW get the bus! I'm sorry if you're having crashing and problems, that's not cool for any app!

  • We're cool. Always peace on the bus...

  • After playing with this app I could get used to this. The simplicity of MT Daw with automation.

  • What I'm sayin'! An cheep too

  • I just got this today and like what I've seen so far, aside from the crashing when trying to select an effect, but given the work-around, that's not a big deal. I do get some whining noise when I loop a track that I can't figure out. It plays fine on the first pass, but the noise shows in on all subsequent passes. I've turned off input monitoring and unarmed the track, but that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, I haven't seen anything indicating this supports midi, so I'm assuming it doesn't....but I'd be glad to have anyone prove me wrong!

I do like having automation and the spectrum analyzer, and the ui seems pretty intuitive.

Ok I'm in! Was thinking this would be perfect to track Audiobus ideas to, then transfer to and master in Auria.

@noisehorse - sorry again. I guess i tend to get really ancy when theres an app that can potentially become an important tool in my workflow. cheers for the heads up!

Update: I'm having a hit and miss experience with this app. When I try to play drum beats from Alchemy, after 5 seconds, it becomes really distorted and breaks up. Im not a tech guy so my simple thinking is that Alchemy is a powerful app, so I try a less cpu intensive app, beattwirl which records fine.

It crashed on me once when I was switching around my apps. Also, I know it was discussed earlier in thread but deleting a track isn't obvious.

EDIT: To be fair to N-Track, I just tried doing the same thing with MultiTrack and it also distorted. I had to increase the buffer size in MT to 11 sec to get it to work.

  • Try setting the buffer size in AB.

  • I thought deleting a track was pretty obvious....select the track and then choose delete from the tool menu. Is that how you're doing it @gjcyrus?

  • @mgmg - yeah that did the trick! thnx

@funjunkie - Are you using iphone or ipad? i'm using ntrack on iphone right now so I dont see tools menu. good to know it's there somewhere so I just have to find it.

  • that would explain it....I'm on an iPad 4.

  • n-Track updated with crash fix.
