Elastic Drums Massive New Update Demo for iPad from TSTR

I'm getting allot of crackles after just updating elastic drums, the kind that sounds like audio breaking down cause of bad latency but I'm just trying to listen to some patterns. Before I updated the app all was fine, I've actually never experienced audio break up and crackle in this app before or any for that matter in spite of being on an iPad 3 7.1.2

  • is it possible to go back to the previous version of this app?

  • edited August 2015

Yes, if you kept the ipa file of one previous version. But if you don't update your apps via itunes frequently, probably you have a very old version of the app.

I use to backup two or three versions of my favourite apps to an external HD since I had bad experiences like you have.

  • Sorry...Go iTunes, Apps, Update apps and check it out the recycled bin for the ElasticDrums ipa file.

  • i decided to update my iPhone 6 + to see if there are any issues with it since it's faster than the ip3 and I'm having some serious issues, I'm not getting the crackling and audio breakdown as on the iPad but instead I'm getting a what seem like random outburst... and patterns aren't playing right for instance, if I put a bass note on track 2, place some hits on the pattern all I hear is one bass hit in a 4 measure period even though I have a bunch of hits placed in the pattern!

nobody is experiencing this, I'm sure everyone updated elastic..... and unlike my iPad 3, the phone is os 8.3

thanks will check this out, this is driving me nuts

  • ok tiny update, so the randomizer button is not even working on track 2, tried randomizing the notes.. nothing, then tried randomizing the instrument+notes and still getting nothing. what I am getting though is white flashes in squares on the grid that are completely empty (black).... and this is on the iPhone

  • I'll let Oliver know your having these problems

  • hehe i love how Elastic comes out with polyrhythms right after the release of Patterning. This is going to be way fun.

I bought Diode a few days back, but didn't get a chance to really explore it as Patterning came out. Just as I get my hands on that this update pops up....I've gone rhythm crazy here look. My next album will be a selection of drum solos.

Flashing back to Carl Palmer's gajillion-piece drum kit. Except every piece is a synth, and its all under a smallish rectangle of glass.

Actually, Elastic Drums has had variable length patterns (and clock divisions!) for each of the sound slots since day 1.

yep and this is one freakin awesome beatmachine, with Elastic and Seek beats/tweaky beats I have no need for attack whatsoever !
I had allot of work to do with elastic this weekend aaarrghh

    thanks doug I appreciate it........

But now polyrhythms are possible with new in between time settings in each sequencer.... And I am not just reading that off the update text. ;)

    (I was being cheeky before)

  • ufck, if this is what iOS 7 .1.2 is doing to my iPad 3 then I'm gonna have to freakin update the os, cause I absolutey have to elastic running correctly on this iPad.......

thanks asnor for trying it out,

does anybody else have an iPad 3 out there on os 7 or 7.1.2 that's running Elastic, how's it performing for you?

  • Will be updating tonight or tomorrow - will let u know. Ipad4 ios 7.0.2

  • but the not so funny thing is that my phone is on os 8.3 and though it is performing much better and I'm not getting the audio break up I'm still getting random outburst, usually on track 1 or 2 , and changing the pattern does nothing even if I randomize track 1 all day long it will change the sound but the sequence of that pad will not change no matter what, even if I place hits all over the grid for that sound it's sequence will not change.

so I'm rambling like a madman to say is anybody running elastic on an iPhone os 8.3 and if they are noticing anything?
it wouldn't be that I need to be at 8.4.1 to work properly right 8.3 should suffice?

  • worked fine for me on my ipad4 ios7.02 - i went through a bunch of presets, tweaked some nobs, hit all the randomize features a few times, and played with the jam screen for 10 mins (FUN!). No issues at all noticed.

Also figured out a little neat trick with the jam screen - you can press and hold a button (Freeze for example) and then switch to one of the other screens - like the pattern or fx screens ... as long as you keep holding down your finger you'll hold the jam screen button on. Great great update. Only thing I would wish for in this app would maybe be a few more real sounding kits - but that's not what this app is about i suppose...

  • I think this update has been overshadowed by Patterning release... But I gotta say the jam screen feature added is super awesome and fun! Played around some more this aft with a simple hip hop type beat programmed in - had me feeling like DJ Shadow or MixMaster Mike cutting up a beat. Great fun! One of the best features I've come across in an app in many months!

  • yeah Elastic is indispensable for me these days, which is why I gotta get it working right on my iPad , I found someone else on discchord thats going through something similar maybe worse as I think they said they can't make it work at all now but they haven't posted back up to clarify.

  • Ooh I gotta update. Sounds really good

    I'm on iPad3 ios 8.4 (not ios 8.4.1)

    I'll let you know

  • Ok so I'm blown away with this update. Jam mode is such a great way to interact with this.

@kobamoto yes some crackling and break up on more complex patterns but on leaner ones ran fine

  • To the dev..

Please add a button to commit the parameter changes that are made on the jam screen.

I did discover if I hold the parameter button then press a freeze button than release the freeze the parameter button holds. I suppose I could than save this pattern as a variation? That would work as a workaround maybe? (Just thinking out loud here)

  • When I first updated ED, I noticed a slight delay as it changed from one pattern to the next in the sequence, I didn't notice that before the update but on both iPad 4 and Mini Retina after the update this was apparent on iOS 8.4 on both devices.
