It is news of the ios version. We should be able to open our ios bm3 project on osx for further editing :) good news for ios users

  • Ok, it wasn't clear. Thanks for clarifying

Do we have an ETA for this app now then

I hope they revamp it. It's a powerful tool my I've never got my head around it.

  • I hope they leave the interface as is but add features, IAA effects, internal synths etc. if they mess with the UI there's a 50% it's gonna get even more cryptic so those who are already familiar with it aren't going to be too happy to have to relearn everything.

  • I would like to see beatmaker 2 and Nanostudio have a baby, who then grows up and has a baby with MusicStudio

That would be App incest considering that Beatmaker stole more than half of its DNA from Nanostudio in the first place.

Beatmaker came out about two years before Nanostudio, way back in 2008, on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Not sure when the desktop editions of each dropped, but I think they followed the iOS ones.

with as many die hard users who get headaches every time they use it I'm not sure it's not so much of a risk for them to take, they've got at least as many in their user base that want a change as don't

  • Interesting hope its soon, currently using BM2 on my iphone 6+ then transfer to Ipad, being able to tansfer to Mac would be great too.

    Maybe.

But what if, to please the public, they turned it into Cubasis? If they did, that would be the end of 'Beatmaker the cool DAW' for me. I absolutely hated the Cubasis experience.

I admittedly haven't touched Beatmaker 2 for more than a year because I'm into my live stuff but for that 6 months spell that I did I certainly had more adrenaline inducing moments than the ones that would made me reach for the aspirin.

I'm confident that if the same people code the new app the mainframe will remain similar with just some crucial tweaks to make it more streamlined and integrated.

  • @supadom I would like it to be something more akin to Ableton. You should try Live if you haven't already. You'd probably like it given you are into loop based music.

  • Yes but bm2 borrowed heavily from nanostudio

Yep, I've tried it. The mouse got in the way.

That would be a total rewrite though. It wouldn't be beat maker anymore. Either way bring them on!

  • to be honest man I don't expect them to change much in spite of my hopes, personally I think the play ground app is the way of the future to make best of a beat machine on the ipad in the same way that bitshape is making the most out of the iPad for synths.... If I'm going to go through the paradigms and headaches of either cubasis or beat maker I'd just assume do it on another medium outside of the iPad like some hardware or my computer... the hole world is topsy turvy right now, donald trump could be president, beat maker 3 probably not be the most 'intua-tive' beat machine, and the playground devs first priority is not sample import......Samplr development is quiet as a mouse and ben afleck is batman. the world is a mess lol

  • I have Beatmaker2 for osX right now...

I agree with you on the mouse. I'll take a touchscreen, pads, knobs, and sliders over a mouse. I got a Launchpad Mini to launch loops(clips) in Ableton Live. Auxy and Pro MIDI have clip launching. If their developers could expand them with more DAW features like audio I'd be happy camper.
