Navichord - Update August 27, 2015

Been looking forward to this (love this app), but unfortunately I am getting no sound (either internal or via MIDI) since the update. Air1/8.4.

Rebooted etc., but no dice. Welcome any thoughts, but also share my momentary woe in case others prefer not to update right away etc.

Sure it's just a glitch. Going off for a Barton Springs dusk swim. Life is proportionate.

JGY, Navichord has been changed! You need to select a scale eg. C major! in the scale button! Every initial opening you need to make decide this part only, other buttons are all set after previous closing the apps.

  • This is the important update for Navichord!

By far, it is the most smooth and bug-free and versatile app for iPad chord players!

Yep, same here. Keyboard buttons, top and bottom, don't respond to any touch at all. Air 1 on 8.4.

I did Kaikoo sir, I did. Tried all the settings, nothing makes it work for me.

Slow down! choosing well on each button!

I beta tested the Navichord. I have tested more than ten synth apps on Navichord for many many hours on Air 1 with ios 8.4.

  • I noticed that if I switched off Show out of Scale notes that the audio dropped. Toggled and got it back. Toggled again and it stayed on.

I'm having problems with chords sounding. All I get are single notes. Anyone else??

  • The Navichord can be open first, or it can be open after synth app. There is no differences for the orders. Very very bug free.

  • ok @Kaikoo I understand now. You have to change scale before it will play.

So if the app is in C Major at startup, I can't play in this scale until I change to another scale then change it back again? That sounds like a bug to me.

Why make it appear like the app doesn't work when opened?

Depend on your synth app, maybe you choose a monophonic synth!

If the chord is being pressed, the keyboard will light you what keys are being pressed.

  • No...I'm talking internal audio.

No, you can change the scale after initial scale setting any any time, you don't have to going back to setting, just press off the Pin button on top.

I have reported this as a bug for initial setting to developer. I realized now it is not a bug. Developer wants you to set the initial scale setting first after opening the Navichord.

At the risk of stating the obvious, you are pressing between the dots to get chords? Do you have mute out of scale notes on?

I think that is a mistake. Both Mr Goodyear and myself couldn't get any sound out of it and believed it was broken. Why not just default to C Major at first startup, like every other app in our world?

I am ok with internal chord sounding on mute-out-of-scale button.

  • Doh...it's been a while since I've used it, and I was stuck in my instant gratification thinking. Thanks @Jocphone...working now.

  • Thanks @Kaikoo...working as expected now.

Yep! Easier! I am questioning it too! Maybe this is the way developer wants you to decide what scale you need to focus on start-up!

Yeah me too. Don't know what has changed but it somehow seems less useful than when I first bought it, although, like you, I didn't continue to use it. Maybe I just forgot about it with all the other great apps that came out this summer.

Yes, seems an odd decision, but sometimes these workflow decisions only become clear in the cold light of 2:30 in the morning.

The most important thing for me on this upgrade is the octave switch for both Grid and Keyboard on front panel.

This version upgrade is deeper, so does the conceptual thinking.

  • Lol...ADD with all the other apps!

  • @Kaikoo Dear Captain (my Captain), I have made it work now also. But I don't understand why this start up change. He must remember he is dealing with many fools (myself, primarily :) who like irritated chimps bang at things as they have always done and get discouraged very easily :)

    HOWEVER: Octave! YAY!

Yes, thank you, the swim was absolutely lovely....

I appreciate your help (as ever).

  • My number 1 app now! Without it, I am hardly enjoying any synth apps seriously.

I am busy nowaday on pizzeria, my project now!

  • App or foodstuff?

    Thin crust or deep dish?

    I've been, too.

  • clearly looks like a bug. navichord does remember my last scale, but will only play notes when I select it again.
apart from that, really nice update.

  • @Kaikoo, @JocPhone, @JohnnyGoodyear

No sound on start is a bug that you can eliminate by deleting and redownloading the app, then it works nicely as before
