Music app for children ? (suggestions please)
Someone I know who works with SEND children has asked for suggestions for some sort of music app for young children (4-8 years old).
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions ?
Comments
Drambo?
Oh sorry couldn't help myself.
Bebot and Incredibox have to be worth checking out. Great fun with instant results and eye catching characters.
More advanced: Koala sampler is superb fun for making beats/raps with the built-in mic. Great interface and I reckon kids will soon click with it under adult supervision.
I would say Koala Sampler. All the sound from their toys and surroundings at the fingertips. And you can allways insert a cute background picture.
Great question. I asked the same thing five years ago for my son!
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/19253/which-app-for-my-18-month-kid/p1
BTW, he favored bebot. I don’t know how many of these apps are still around.
Bebot is still there 😊
Thanks for all the suggestions so far, Koala is a bit too advanced for the kids they work with I think but I’ll check the rest.
p.s. I wish they could use Drambo then they could teach me ! 😂

My son has already done his first Drambo recording, obviously with my help
and he thoroughly enjoys
Launchpad, Synthmaster 1&2,
there are a few other music apps that he
likes oh and yes he likes GarageBand as well.
He’s coming up to seven.

@CRAKROX
Hey I suggest stuff that plays a lot with graphic and touch. A good randomize option could be good, too.
So, What about node beat
https://apps.apple.com/de/app/nodebeat-playful-music/id1548397820
Or TC-11
https://apps.apple.com/de/app/tc-11/id488577050

I think these are perfect and a great way to explore their tastes.
Good luck 🙏🏽
P.s. if you see he like stuff and understand what a mixer does, don’t forget AUM to bring that stuff together.
Studio Island Song Creator

Baby Piano for kids and toddlers
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/baby-piano-for-kids-toddlers/id1021191431
Studio Island looks funny 😂 , but at the first look I wouldn’t know what to do or how.
Maybe because it’s for a child brain 🙈
Lol. It’s official, drambo has been mentioned in every thread. Lol.
Since bebot, figure and others have been mentioned already...
I would add DotMelody by Olympia Noise
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dot-melody-multidimensional/id841019483?mt=8&uo=4&at=10lqCx
TC-11 for weird results
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tc-11/id488577050
Guess kids would go crazy touching multiple fingers and seeing all the crazy visuals and sounds
Oh... to give it a try on the free version:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tc-performer/id988390358
Dot melody is a good call.
Could thumbjam be a good one?
Maybe not for kids this age... but may be a good consideration.
Start playing virtual instruments. When they get going with it, start building loops inside TJ itself
Animoog- lots of changes in sounds with finger movements and the visual aspect works well.
Ah, forgot about musyc. My 4 year old was all over it!
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/musyc/id489836689
Another vote for incredibox which both my kids enjoy (age 4 and 8)
Both my boys have gotten on well with GarageBand with basically no explanation (4 and 7 when they first tried it)
I second Audanika and Figure
Incredibox, Blocs Wave and Toca Band
Audanika is totally built for kids and musical education. Good one
Thanks for all the suggestions, they are much appreciated, I’ll pass them on !
My vote is for Audaniks and all the Soundprism apps
+1 for Musyc. My son (and I!) really like this app. Pretty nice preset sounds too.
did anyone mention these apps?

Samplebot
https://apps.apple.com/ch/app/samplebot/id1265824117?l=fr
This is from Michael, so...
Monomals on Apple Arcade is a cute, highly polished one. Part game/part music sequencer tailored for young kids.
