beatmaker3 pitchbend range
is there a way to set the pitchbend range in beatmaker3/performance controls/wheels?

Comments
For sample banks, go to Sample Edit (wavy line on the left), and it's in the Modulations tab, under Modulation Ratio.
thanks @ocelot
so this is only for sample banks and not for au plugin instruments?
Maximum pitch-bend range for samples is +/-36 semitones (72).

What can be a bit 'confusing' in BM3 is that the range is 'total range' so If you want up-n-down pitch-bend to be +/-2 you need to set it to +4, if you set it to -4 it will be -/+2 so bending up will bend down and vice-versa.
The AU may have settings for pitchbend range. Some AUs do, some don't.
Pitchbend range is a function of the AU itself not the host. It basically is a synth’s way of letting you tell it how far to bend the pitch if a maximum or minimum pitchbend value comes in.
I could have sworn OP asked about BM3's performance controllers, but maybe I read it wrong.
no no, you read absolutely right. that's what i asked for:)
The performance controllers are just sending midi values to AUv3 apps. They send CC values of 0-127 and pitch bend values of 0 to 16,383 (with 8,192 = no pitch bend). It's up to the receiving end, the app, to translate these values into control ranges. The host doesn't have any control over this in a 3rd party plugin.
@rototom
As far as I know, BM3’s performance pitch-bend wheel simply runs +/-127 steps (or similar).
This range is then mapped according to the sampler pitchbend settings (modulations tab) or those of your AUv3 plugin (which differs per plugin, or can sometimes be set in the plugin itself) that the performance controls are attached to.
Just think of the performance controls as a generic MIDI controller.
(Edit: Wim explained this just before I hit ‘Post’ - and did a better job of it too
)
i think i understand now.
thank you all!
