@_ki Thank you for the presets.. 👍 very generous of you.. 👏 🙏
@_ki ! You are an absolute legend! Huge thank you. 🙌👏
Another thanks for the patches
I’m glad you like the patches even though they mostly are quite simple. The patches are meant to be a base setup for the various offered miRack FX to be further tweaked.
Some of the miRack FX (like the Plateau reverb) sounded quite nice and it was straight forward to expose these as AUv3 FX. After having done several presets, i decided to build simple setups for all of the audio FX that miRack offers. Some modules had special options (like inserting other FX into the delay path), so i added some examples to showcase these possibilities.
.
I enjoyed setting up the Mid-Side presets for Spatialization, they really widen the sound field for mono and stereo inputs. The three miRack presets are quite effective, one uses panned filter bands and the other two use granularization on the original mid component for the artificial side component that is added to the original side component.
I developed/verified them using the circle and track visualisation of Spatializer AU, which offers many more key features (no phase smearing in the mono mix, no phasing or combining, easy control) and a crystal clear sound that is not achievable with these miRack presets.
The seven Side-Only presets of that pack started as experiments (what if....) and sound different than using the FX modules on the standard stereo channels.
Currently i‘m experimenting with two slightly different Plateau reverb settings on mid and side component (not yet part of the Mid-Side pack, but easy to build).

Hi guys, I somehow stopped visiting this forum again, sorry. Missed such a great pack of presets from @_ki! I'll try to visit more often now. Recently I've added cable colour selector, search in module browser, and now continuing with quality of life and appearance improvements.
I've uploaded a beta version that adds undo/redo functionality, adds cable opacity slider, and re-enables some stuff that was always disabled for performance reasons - cable shadows, light halos, realistic light brightness fading, higher FPS, and, not yet, but should be ready soon, plug lights. All this doesn't seem to have much impact on performance with the current implementation, but will be disabled by default for now, and can be enabled in settings menu.
Those who wants to try and help testing but doesn't have access to miRack beta are welcome to send me a PM.
(Also if anyone interested but missed it, I recently made miRack for macOS available in VST format, which, unlike AU plugins on Mac, supports sample accurate MIDI output, and also Ableton Link which doesn't work inside AU either. See https://mirack.app/vst)
Thanks @mifki. Recent updates have been great.
Hey, always great to have you around so we have a chance to thank you for recent updates ... which have been fantastic. The VST for MacOS is especially appreciated. It works much better than the "Legacy" AU in FL Studio. Having Link available in a plugin is nice too. It's useful to be able to control the miRack VST BPM from AUM.
My only wish would be for there to be some way for the incoming host clock and start/stop to set the Link tempo. This would make it a true addition of Link to non Link enabled hosts, and enable control of something like AUM from a non-link desktop DAW like FL Studio or GarageBand.
Also, I know it's beyond your control, but a Run output from the Link module would be very helpful.
@mifki, do we need to re-download the VST plugin when miRack is updated through the macOS App Store?
Thanks @mifki! The recent updates have been really useful.
What’s wrong with the AU? Or is it just VST vs AU support in FL in general?
Yeah it should be easy to add this.
No, they are mostly independent, I mention in miRack release notes and on Twitter when these extra packages are updated.
Actually, I think I spoke too soon. I'm having some issues with the plugin not resizing when the FL Studio VST wrapper is resized. Maybe another thing or two as well. I need to do some more detailed testing and will send bug reports once I have more info.
Oh wow, that would be awesome.
Thanks.
I'll look into the resizing issue now.
Also, in one of the next updates I think I'll expose patches placed in a certain folder as presets selectable in hosts, this should make using them much easier.
Resizing works fine in Live. Looks like a FL Studio wrapper issue.
There's no VST3 support in GarageBand so I can only use the AU there. I used to have problems with the non-legacy AU plugin in GarageBand, but it works now. Resizing is a little odd in GarageBand. The plugin window resizes, but always in the same square aspect ratio. You can't make it anything but square.
That'd be great. Thanks for all your work!
This certainly would make things much easier.
Thank you also.
Woo for presets.
This would be awesome for samples too. 🙏
@mifki You’re a gem, just wanted to put that out there.
Agreed + Koala Sampler + BM3 🙏🏾
Any chance we could see a windows version of the vst someday?
I was searching to see if this question had been asked, as I’d encountered the same issue. Also (while reading the manual for Mutable’s Stages) became curious as to whether miRack allows several instances to be daisy-chained like the hardware modules do.
miRack has come a LOOOOOONG way, and I’m impressed. I’m aiming to upgrade my Mac soon so I can use it on iPad AND within Ableton Live and Reason. Taking time to learn miRack (modular fundamentals) while tucking money aside for my eventual upgrade.
Hoping to see the missing feature sets from Marbles and Stages implemented, if possible, (probably as options embedded within a context menu, I’d imagine.)
is mirack still alive? was looking into polyphony and the last posts about it on the forums were in like september last year
Sure it is. It was just updated in January. Polyphony aside, it's one of the most stable and interesting apps on the App Store. It also runs great on MacOS and with far better performance (though fewer modules) than VCV Rack or the other (free) open source rack software that I can't remember the name of right now.
Adding new modules has really slowed down.
oh excellent. Missed the update. Preaching to the choir man mirack is the bomb was just unnerving going on their forums to find it empty. Had a little request I was gonna ask about, seen the dev online here recently?
That's to be expected. MiRack is stuck with the 1.0 code base because the VCV Rack developer changed to a GPL license that's incompatible with the App Store. Only modules that have source compatible with that fork can be included. Those will be more and more hard to come by. Unfortunate side effect of the VCV developer not liking that the for-pay iOS version was done.
doesn’t the desktop version charge for modules now?
No, but as you say, there hasn't been much talk about the app for some time.
Last visit ... October 2021
Desktop version of miRack - no.
Desktop version of VCV Rack has always had a mixture of paid and free modules.
Cardinal has all open sources modules. I wish all those could be ported to miRack. Even a new app would be great.
