Your Favorite Places To Get Free (and Legal) SoundFonts?
A site I had never heard of before was posted several days ago here.
http://soundfonts.darkesword.com
Here's another: https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/
However, many of the sites I used to go to for free SoundFonts have shut down or seem to be inoperable now, such as Hammersounds.
Which sites do you use and recommend?

Comments
Half the sf2 I actually use are from soundfonts4u, so it's top rated. Here are some other interesting sites that still work.
I've found some nice instruments at https://sites.google.com/view/sf2-instruments/home.
https://cymatics.fm/blogs/production/soundfonts is a compendium of links, most of which still work.
http://johannes.roussel.free.fr/music/soundfonts.htm, idiosyncratic.
https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1200140, orchestral.
https://www.hedsound.com/2019/07/flamestudios-guitar-soundfonts-in-sf2.html, nice guitars.
Pianobook.co.uk of course.
You know perfectly where the libraries originate from and thus no rights infringement or whatsoever may never happen.
Yes, but it does not have SoundFonts (sf2 files), unfortunately.
There’s some here

Definitely a great one.
Hammersound comes up goose eggs for me. All the links are dead.
I visited this one a while ago and all the links seemed dead, so not very useful.
Hey !
The amazing website https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/ is down ... What a pity. Do you know if someone had a copy of all the soudfonts ?
Thanks a lot

It's possible there are many dead links in the sites that collect lists of other sites. These sites being loaded with copyright infringed sounds, you alone are responsible for their use. I take no responsibility for damaged computers or devices.
I have found a lot on internet archive.
Although this one is a free SFZ soundfont site, it provides SF2 versions of many of those SFZ soundfonts for download also.

I found a possible workaround for what @vinceom reported. The wayback machine has a valid snapshot of the site https://sites.google.com/site/soundfonts4u/ from around 2/25/25, and I was able to see the descriptions and the links to the soundfont files. I copied out the link to one of the downloads, which point to Google drive, into a new tab, I was able to download the file. I only tried one small one though, but it may be worth a try.
Thanks, I will try
This is a dope thread. Perfect for FontStack owners.
If anyone has any shofar, or bird soundfonts. Please link them.

Are great sources for GM soundfonts. If you're looking for gaming soundfonts- there's a really good Reddit thread, with tons of video games from Japan - might be something there. I avoid the gaming ones usually because they aren't bundled.
Also, I posted a link to an online SF2 compiler that allows you to make your own SF2/SFZ.
