    Considering that Drambo is not a ā€˜linear DAWā€™ and has limited track-count midi import would be quite limited.
    Each clip also has a maximum length of 16 bars. Itā€™s would be a lot of conditions that would have to be checked like which midi-channel to import and where, how many bars should each clip be split into etc. etc.

    So while midi-import sounds easy thereā€™s a lot more to it to get it ā€˜rightā€™.

    Hopefully, it will happen.. There is ATOM 2 as a work around (with Key/Scale Quantize) to work with for now.. but direct import saves time and inspiration..

    Got D2 during the last sale, but have yet to try anything much with it. Gonna try and put some decent time into learning this beast, and these tutorials seem like a great way to start. Of course, clearly the videos are straddling a few different versions, likely rendering some (A lot?) of the earlier videos.

    So, perhaps @sfm or any others might be able to advise a route through these, in any order, that would catch all the important info. I'd be very grateful, and no doubt others also.

    I just did all of them, start to finish recently. The older stuff has a few differences - but not enough to interfere with learning. Leoā€™s presentation is thorough and clear, and after the first few videos in the series you should have a good enough foundation to be able to follow the tutorials a 1.25 or 1.5 speed.

    Core concepts are reinforced throughout the series of tutorials, so binge studying works really well. šŸ˜€

    Ben Richardā€™s ones are good too. Honestly, Drambo is much more friendly than any other modular environment Iā€™ve worked with. You donā€™t have to reinvent the wheel, use your AUv3ā€™s and community patches instead. the sequencer is really intuitive.

    Yeah...Glanced through some of his stuff, also. Will definitely add stuff from other creators as and when I feel a bit more grounded.

    Also, definitely not looking to re-invent any wheels, in terms of modular. The biggest part for me to get my head 'round is the sequencer/groovebox aspect, as the last time i was prolific with anything pattern/sequence-based was the early 90's. Used to have a Boss DR-660, and knew that thing inside and out.

I went at it with the same kind of focus I used to have at a three day technology summit meeting. It was some work, but the SFM tutorials have no added time wasting fluff. Not even a stray ā€œumā€ or similar word waste. So fast learning is very possible if you A-Z the playlist. And at the end, when you are too tired to even think of watching another video, you get the prize of being very comfortable unwinding and playing with Drambo.

    I donā€™t think there are many other tutorial makers suitable for this kind of binge study, except perhaps Paul from 4Pockets teaching his own apps. Other SFM tutorial playlists are every bit as good as his Drambo set.

But in the end, I think that a perhaps slower approach, that seems to have been set up as a no-stone-left-unturned mission was the best way to go. That, as opposed to trying to patch together loads of 'Getting Started' videos, from many disparate sources.

    As for the intended speed of my journey? Not anywhere near your prodigious pace, that's for sure. Got a lot of other stuff to do, so perhaps two months would be more like it ;)

    I am curious, though, how you rated your familiarity with the app...after that binge. How are you getting on with the app now?

    Very comfortable with it, and it just feels like a place to go make music without the need to learn anything else first. Iā€™m even critically viewing a lot of new app releases with the ā€œI bet I could just do that in Dramboā€ attitude.

    Interestingly, I originally budgeted the entire month of January to learn Drambo, but then started the tutorial series right after Christmas and felt absolutely comfortable with it by New Yearā€™s day. I no longer view it as any less accessible than playing in AUM or playing in Gadget. I tend to favor Drambo for fancy parameter controlling and sequencing (especially when sequencing song style with multiple patterns), and AUM for loading audio recordings and IAA for play along using Velocity Keyboard, or for routing MIDI to multiple synths in order to export audio stems.

    After the first 5 or so tutorials, the learning sensation switches from the awkwardness of getting familiar with Dramboā€™s layout and connections to just adding on one interesting new mini skill in each additional tutorial.

    My iOS-music goals have completely shifted since buying the iPad last year. At that point, my desktop situation was all but dead, and I was looking to do some very heavy lifting on the tablet. That situation has now changed, and I'm back to the desktop as a daily-driver. So with iOS I'm really looking for a workflow that is diametrically-opposed to what I'm doing already. That's why I'm looking to Drambo (And later Loopy Pro) to work both as an intermediary between all my iOS instruments and FX and my desktop environment and as a scratchpad. Perhaps there'll also be time to try to piece together some kind of live performance-ness to it all.

    So yeah...your experience, having learnt Drambo, is definitely a place I'd like to be.

    That's exactly what i was hoping when i saw the amount of tutorials i.e A good solid foundation formed from the start, with everything else as add-on modules.

    Just want to say how fantastic your tutorials are. Last month I began with the first V2 series, and today I completed #74.
    Not that it took this long. Itā€™s just been an awesome overall experience of filling the time in between with creating, exploring, and Benā€™s videos. Even on your videos where i think Iā€™m already familiar with the subject youā€™re covering, I still learn something more about it.
