Yeah, sounds fantastic though I think calling it mind blowing might be a bit of a stretch for me. Its certainly very very nice.

It has a lot of character for a simplistic synth app, that's for sure. I think that's what's mindblowing is the character. And the battery slider too, lol! Imagine making drones with this thing mate! Or using Fugue Machine to drive it in AUM!

I will have a walkthrough up soon btw, focused on the ios version and giving a frank review of the strengths and weaknesses (there are definitely a few of each) of the app.

As always, I look forward to seeing your balanced review on it.

And despite my initial misgivings, I bought it. Can't wait to see what I can do with it after my shift. :)

Awww yeah! BA-1 is mindblowing! It reminds me of why I love Gadget 2 so much - the powerful simplicity of many of the synths contained within. And BA-1 has a great sound to it!

I think you are ready to start buying HW synths :) Believe me, that’s true reason why you like Gadget and now BA-1 - it’s glimpse of playing with real HW synth 😄 Believe me, just try it ;) start with something small … it’s whole new experience

Absolutely FANTASTIC synth.. beautifully lofi yet firm .. Does great pads, arpeggios, basses …

Love what turning down “battery” slider to 20% and less does with sound.

    Also FM modulation dounds great.

Together with Hilda and BS-1 top 3 synth of year. Extremely inspirative synth.

Short quick loop - pad, bass and aroeggio BS-1

You do showcase it better then the previous video I posted. 👍

    Thanks 😇

    Agreed!

I couldn’t help myself, bought this right away, as if I need another synth. Eh, I’ve spent 20 bucks on worse things

There is not that much AUv3 synths capturing real HW sound this faithfully - i can think probably about 4- 5 of them - so it’s no brainer.

You don't need too much room or desktop or mixing desk.. there is lot of small options which you can record directly into iPad using just sound card .. i acually never used proper mixing desk and i am mostly buying just small desktop synths without keyboard or just with small 2 octave mini keys ...

There is lot of options which are small in both dimmensions and price, but are giving great reasult in terms of fund and output sound quality ..

I use a rack and my own Frankenstein “channel strip” with a tube preamp, compressor, and eq running into my interface that has been more than ample and haven’t found the need for a big setup with a mixing desk for hardware and can contain it to a small table. Doing a hybrid setup with hardware and iOS has been fabulous. I just use a behringer model d mostly and it’s so easy to dial something in and those analog filters and sonic character are hard to beat

Also need to say, if anybody thinks HW Model D (even the one from Behringer) can be replaced with Model D plugin, then he can't be more far from truth. Same goes for example to MS20 (or K2 alternative from Behringer) .. apples and oranges in terms of sound, huge difference when compared to their SW counterparts ..

I’m living in a tiny house so I don’t have room for hardware anymore but I am planning on buying the uno synth pro desktop because it is nice to have a hardware analog synth laying around for that extra oomph. And like you said, they’re so fun to play with. But that’s all the room I have so one will do for now. Plus my couple of Volcas and pocket operators I have laying around.

All HW synths i currently have fits on small ikea table sized 55 cm x 55 cm :-)) You can do a lot with very small footprint ..

Uno Synth Pro desktop is good choice .. also Dreadbox Typhon is great sounding / small sized synth.. or Dreadbox Nymphes which is even 6 voice polyphonic full analog ! There is lot options in small size format (Arturia Microfreak with their latest update which added granular synthesis and ability to use own samples is no brainer for that price)

I love the Dreadbox stuff. Had the Erebus and Nyx for a long while and they sound amazing. Unfortunately those would require the addition of another midi controller which I also don’t have space for. I just use a Bluetooth one now. With the tiny house pretty much every square inch is accounted for so I gotta be careful with that. And since I’ll be setting it up every time, an all in one unit like the Uno synth is the ideal choice for me.

most people sign to "beta" just to get early access to app and hardly are doing real beta testing (beta testing != daily use) .. i can see it even on simple fact they have no idea where they can found crash log on iOS device and how to send it to dev ..

Yeah, and this makes me a bit sad...
...those few apps I do decide to spend time on testing I go 'all in' and provide feedback as needed.

    In my case, yes

  • I gave quite a lot of feedback to baby audio while beta testing actually. But I don't have time to beta test the shit out of everything I get added to. The main reason for adding influencers is that they can get familiar with the app before review. Nevertheless, with some things (eg Beat Scholar) beta testing can eat up an absolute shit load of time. Igor's apps tend to be in the same boat, massive time sinks

The randomizer is the best I have come across, which will be welcomed by many - you can hear how fantastic it is in the video I posted on YT earlier. The synth also has 500+ presets. When you think how few presets some synths come with, how much some devs charge for preset IAPS (Bleass, for example) and how many people are mainly preset surfers or tweakers, that plus the randomizer alone is almost with the $20.

23:00 The Randomiser is AMAZINGLY good!
