Yeh, but the problem is the license and which modules depend on VCV 2. Cardinal can use the latest VCV Rack forks because it's not offered on the App Store. miRack is stuck with a fork from the pre-GPL licensing of VCV 1.
One could try to back port open source modules to make them work with 1.0 if the module's source code license allows, but that could be a really significant effort.
Holy damn, awesome update on the beta
The beast awakens!
Oho? Polyphony maybe?
hope macOS wont require Rosetta 😶
I’m attempting not to get overexcited, and failing miserably! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You're NOT alone...
While it looks good 'on paper' (ie. does almost everything) it's practically a pita to use.
There's really nothing 'special' about the sounds it can produce either...
...I find that if/when I need the Mutable Instrument modules I'm happier with the free Spectrum from @burns_audio
Guys, please shed some light about update. Does it got Stoermelder tools? Erica Synth modules? Polyphony support?
Stoermelder isn't even out for VCV2 yet, so likely won't come to miRack for a while if ever. Plus other modules are dependent on licensing. There are 6 new sets of modules included in beta, probably 20-30 new modules.
Not anymore or less than Drambo re pita. Both have their imperfections and wonderful in their own way. And about the sounds, have you used Valley modules or Lindenberg filters?
You can use miRack to create all sorts of sequencers and CV/Gate processors with the inclusion of tons of logic modules. You can even use the logic modules for audio. Start with Hetrick modules which are some of the best. There's also lots of clock dividers, which are perfect for euclidean and stochastic sequencing.
Yes, I've gone thru most of the modules and what they can do and DO use those parts I need...
... I just find the UI a bit un-intuitive and clunky to work with, that's all.
I think you may have misinterpreted my post: I am getting overexcited!
I really like MiRack's interface, though it would be nice to be able to rearrange modules in groups like I see Omri Cohen do with VCV, rather than having to move them one by one. Being able to export and import sections of existing patches into a new project so you don’t have to rebuild them would be good, too.
So, it’s not perfect, but it’s transformed how I work, and I find it endlessly fascinating.
@mifki I've been testing out the latest beta update and seem to have found an issue. It works as expected on iOS 15 but I’m also using it on an Air 1 that’s on 12.5.5 and it’ll open in standalone but not as an audio unit. I tested it out in AUM and Drambo and have deleted it and reinstalled as well as power cycle my iPad but I’m getting the crash consistently
Version 3.70 is out:
APP FEATURES
Incompatible ports are now dimmed when dragging a cable.
Added a button to mark modules as favorite from their menus.
Added protection from repeated crashes if there's a problem loading a patch on miRack launch.
Added 32- and 64-sample audio buffer size options.
Number of DSP threads can now be increased in settings (only in standalone mode). Use this with caution, on newer devices and only if required for a large patch.

BUG FIXES
Fixed editing LPG responce/decay in Audible Instruments Macro Oscillator 2.
Fixed FPS setting is not applied after restarting miRack.
Fixed incorrect operation when double-tapping toggle switches.
Fixed incorrect behaviour of several MSM modules.
Fixed a freeze when loading samples.
Great update! Mog and Lifeform modules are a fun addition.
Oooh cool! Back to mirack!
Awesome. Any new filters in this batch?
Looks like Christmas came early!
Just Southpole Etagere EQ filter and Deux Etagres EQ filter (stereo).
Cool. Thanks Wim.
I'd love to see the Surge XT rack modules added.
Unfortunately GPL licensed code isn't allowed on the App Store.
Is there a list of which MiRack modules are replications of physical modules? I know about the MI clones and Befaco pieces, but I'm wondering about others which may not be familiar to me.
Thanks!
I think the Turing machine one is a replica
just got a big update:)
Looks like a good one, too. Not had chance to play with it much, but I like the sound of more efficient CPU usage. Plus a batch of new modules!
I don't know how he did it-
but CPU usage is lower than the original VCV Rack...:)
check for yourself.
mad
It always has been much lower. Even better now. 😎
Nice update, out of the blue, hadn't seen any beta.
great, was waiting for this
