I'd just like to know how NOT to make noise music. 🤓
😂 I'd say if the music you make makes you happy, that's what counts. I'm happy with my first Noise Music experiment "Under Construction", using a beat as the basis for stitching together some industrial field recordings I nabbed from freesound.org and distorting the shit out of it in interesting and creative ways. Eventually my future Noise experiments will drift further away from beat-based and into sheer chaos.
This thread has made me dive into Soundsaw again. What a brilliant app. Might put a walkthrough up on it, it's a corker for sure!
So you are saying that you are born with talent for making noise, haha! We all are! 😅
I didn’t know you never made one for it. It’s absolutely an awesome app. I have a soft spot for vintagerack too. It’s not as weird as his others (though it can be pushed there) but it just works.
ClassicFX is also great but suffers from a bad UI. Kinda similar to Beatcutter.
I've had a go at this, but not sure if I'm that talented! 😬
I had no idea I wasn't following you on SC yet mate. Now I do, lol. And this is a nice squelchy little piece.
Thanks man! I make mostly non-noise-music though, hope that's still likeable 😁
But this genre is definitely fun, I've just cranked out another piece! Bit more rhythmic this time
Hahaha! I like all sorts of sounds and produce mostly non-noise-music. 🤣 But I like the art of music in general, regardless of genre.
Love it!
Not just a brilliant app dev, but an excellent musician and nice person to interact with.
Yes one has to be open-minded! (although it's not personally my cup of tea, I do appreciate the diversity!)
Hah, thanks, all three strongly depend on the time of day, year, and number of cars and trucks driving by the house 😄
Anyway, last one for today (bit more melodic!). Bedtime!
(I must admit I cheated a little bit with all three pieces, maybe someone will uncover the fraud 😮☝)
LOL! That's okay. Just don't cheat us out of Xequence 3, and we're square. 😂🤣 I'm joking, lol. Sleep well my friend.
My favorite tool for noise is stacking a lot of gain and distortion pedals on my guitar until it’s hot as fuck and then just let it rip. It’s just pure texture and I love it. Running my guitar through my eurorack is really fun too. I also like using resonance boxes and things like music box tines and kalimbas with piezo mics. Also through the eurorack… and then feedback!
Looks like I'll have to find some guitar pedal apps then.
I'm definitely in the experimental mood recently, lol.
Awesome stuff! What apps are you using? Also gave you a follow on SC 🙏
Rhino/Mammoth and Bull Deluxe are some great “guitar pedals” for noise.
I used 'dd' for this. It's a command-line based DAW for UNIX-like systems!
(kidding. dd is a command for dumping the contents of one file into another. Basically, I just took an existing WAV file with music in it, and then dumped some large system library or binary into it, skipping the header. You can see the full command for making the song in the cover of "/usr/bin/audacity"! 🥴)
$ dd if=/usr/bin/audacity of=t.wav seek=44 conv=notrunc bs=1Cool!
Will check those out promptly and add them to my "to purchase" list.
I just made a little sound demo or two before. But yeah, here's finally the full walkthrough
Anyone into noise definitely needs this, truly fantastic and Igor's best designed UI to date. No buttons masquerading like they're just labels etc here, thank god! The sound is just incredible in this one

I really like the combo of a tube screamer and a muff fuzz pedal, it’s absolutely killer the noise I get just from those two. Lots of clones too on Amazon for wayyyy less than Ibanez and electro harmonix
😂😂😂
I do. But now I'm working on some sort of acoustic pop ish in NS2. 🤣 New week, new ideas to try. Doesn't guarantee I'll be successful, but I only fail if I don't give it the old college try.
For me, it’s exciting even what you wrote. Having flashbacks of countless hours searching radio AM broadcasting, those mixed stations, weird noises, maybe a few alien conversation interceptions, haha! 😅
Saw that last night! Gonna watch it after work. SoundSaw is really excellent. I’d say that, NoInput, and Glitchscaper are all near mandatory apps for noise and experimental stuff. Especially the first 2.
Oh sweet! I’m iOS only so idk that workflow but I love experimental stuff like that. Thanks!
