Lemur, TouchOSC, Touchable, Griid with Audiobus apps?

Hey all, one of our members Saveas inspired me to look into Lemur and other types of controllers. By any chance have any of you used any of these controllers with Audiobus apps? Is it even possible? With so many new apps coming every week, the idea of customizing and streamlining my controls sounds very appealing. Like my lower right hand corner could be reserved for drums/rhythms, left hand side, could be for fx/synths, etc.

Thnx in advance!

  • Hi
I used midi designer on my iPhone 4 to control glitch breaks sunrizer and animoog no problems on my ipad 2. Works really well with no lag. Great fun. They have a free version as well. I also have lemur but can't seem to control ipad with it. Would be great if someone could chop in and give some connection instructions please

  • Some apps don't work with Lemur out of the box, but with FreEWI or MidiBridge you can make them work perfectly

  • @saveas - thnx for the info!
@everybody - can anybody compare touchosc to lemur for iphone/ipad apps? $5 to $50 is a big difference,

  • Lemur has a much better editor, and offers custom scripting and physics. For simple MIDI/OSC control there is TB MIDI Stuff which has some advantages over TouchOSC.

  • TB MIDI Stuff allows you to build directly on the phone. I've been thinking about trying out MIDI Studio Pro since it's on sale. Lovely looking app.

  • TB Midi Stuff takes up a lot of space for me.. I think 200+ mb

midi studio does too! Why is there no equivalent to CSS for objective-c ??? It's 2013!

Wow, thanks again everybody! There's a whole other county in the ios world I haven't explored yet. So many options. From a noob standpoint, and this is totally superficial, Lemur just looks really cool with TouchOSC coming in 2nd. I feel like I should be on the Starship Enterprise playing at some rave while Captain Kirk slips me an E pill. @Phil999 - You said that TB Midistuff has some advantages over TouchOSC. What are they?

  • the layout, and that you can create the controller surface in the app itself. Well this could as well be regarded as a disadvantage because you're faster on a computer based editor. I just don't like the TouchOSC editor. When you know the excellent Lemur editor where you can build and use the unfinished template at the same time, the TouchOSC editor appears very primitive.

To be fair, TouchOSC is to recommend for Logic and Reaper users. The included Logic template works for both DAW's, and it is very good. For own creations however I think that other apps are slightly better, but that's just my impression.

  • What @Phil999 said. Including how well it works with logic. I think touchosc is great but not being able to edit on device makes it a non-starter for controlling things on the fly. You have to use the not-so-amazing editor and you have know what you want up front.

Thnx guys! Much appreciated, I'll just pass on touchosc for now as I try to do most of my stuff on ios devices now. Dont have logic software either so no big benefit there either. Curious how the new midibridge update or midigate/midibus will affect lemur and similar controller apps...

  • Hey gjcyrus, did you see my earlier post??

    http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/951/beatmaker-2-lemur-template-test-mcp#Item_4

I have made a template for Lemur with various input types controlling Beatmaker and Magellan, could be used on other apps as well. Has a 16 channel mixer, drum pads, keyboards etc.

  • Hey Klauut! Yeah I did! I even posted your link on the Lemur forum. If it wasn't $50, I probably would've downloaded lemur by now. TouchOSC was only $5 so I was hoping to give that a go instead but after a lot of thought, will save up for lemur. Did the new midibridge update do anything new for your lemur workflow?

just an update about TouchOSC: last Tuesday emerged several messages from a member of the Hexler team in the TouchOSC forum, after many months of quietness. This changes things a bit, because another reason why I almost stopped using TouchOSC was that there was no support at all. Even slight improvements like a better editor haven't even been asked, because I knew nobody will answer. And there's an app update submitted to Apple ...
I didn't mind that there were no updates, because the app runs fine and doesn't really need improvements, but the lack of support was disturbing. Again, comparing to Lemur/Liine where you have excellent support and beta programs. But this is about to change at Hexler, judging from the recent news.

  • That's the problem I have with TouchOSC , no support at all

  • Yeah, I did notice their forum was like a ghost town. In fact I tries registering and the captcha was always wrong.

  • hi all
I have had lots of apps being controlled with Lemur on the same device, i modified the recent loopy/tornado lemur file and added control for sunrizer and magellan into the same file so i could control all these apps at the same time
My problem is when using ipad2 with Lemur, i seem to beable to only control 1 app on my ipad mini. i can achieve this with using session1set as in and out on midi 0 on Lemur
But i cant seem to create a midi1 connection. when i do it removes midi 0 connections
i have tried using free ewi running on both pads but still only achieve 1 connection
i really would love someone to tell me where i am going wrong, as this is beginning to P... me right off.
Am i trying to do something that is not possible
If i could get this working, i would happyily make more Lemur tenplates to share with others
PLEASE someone help with this.................................. PLEASE

  • Hello everybody!
