Stem separation on iOS/ iPad OS.
So what is currently the best stem separating app on iPad and or iPhone subscription and non subscription?
Can any be used with Apple Music ?
Will the new Logic Pro stem support be better that what’s already been released Will it integrate with Apple Music?
What contenders are out there?
With the Logic Pro update due it just got me thinking what people currently use.

Comments
The only application that I have tested that works almost 100% is desktop only - the rest have too much leaking audio between the instruments…
On my Mac there’s only RipX that fulfills all needs, and that app is really amazing.
Let’s see what Logic Pro 11/2 will produce with stem separations - in about three days we will know more…
I use Let’s Unmix but it leaves different amounts of artefacts depending on the source material.
It’s ok for sampling and ”home use” but it’s not at desktop pro level. Waiting for an iOS developer to code a stem splitter using today’s AI tech…

I'm quite sure there will be a bunch of comparison videos of all the stem-separator apps/options once LogicPro for iPad is out next Monday. Personally I'm more interested in the other 'quality of life' additions to both Mac and iPad version of Logic.
The best I found so far is a DJ app.
Algoriddims stem demix is one of the best out there for sure. Scary how good it is, curious to see how Logic compares.
I doubt any of them will be able to work with Apple Music. If so, then surely only with DRM free stuff.
I record to koala then split 😅
How good is Koala split? I have Koala's, but haven't bought or really tried the other's. I got the free Serato software, but that only separates vocal from all other instruments.
Have some demos from years ago where I lost the project files It have the mixed project with a reference vocalist this could be be the answer to get rid of those reference vox
I know there’s apps that now do separation in real time. What are those? I don’t mind the artifacts cause it’s all for remixes.
I should be just creating my own models, I guess?
Edit: does logic ipad do it?
We can’t even screen record and get the audio that way - Apple has closed that possibility.
Works great with Tidal and Spotify although…
fadr.com works well for me and is free. Have you tried it and does it compare?
Track splitting will be available for newer model iPad Pros when Logic Pro for iPad is updated and available for download on May 13th. That feature only works on those new iPad Pros.
Koala works pretty good
Ultimate Vocal Remover (UVR) is a quite good free app if you have a Mac, Windows or Linux PC. You can select the Demucs algo which is one of the best, and besides Nvidia GPUs on PCs it also supports Apple Silicon GPUs. Splitting a song only takes a few seconds on a my base model M1.
It’s possible on a Mac though with BlackHole.
Works here still…just screen recorded some YT stuff. You sure you turned the volume on in your clip?

You can screen record the Apple Music app and get audio of streamed music? Doesn't work for me.
I forgot to mention that I meant iPad, not on Mac…
Everybody knows that MacOS is much more open and non restricted…
But, it doesn’t care because Apple Music isn’t the best music streaming service for me, that’s Tidal HiFi - they have recently lower the monthly price 50% for Lossless/HiFi subscription (10 bucks now) - really great!
Ahhh… sorry man, my bad. I only record YT and Spotify, not Apple Music.

Ah ok, that’s good to know but at the same time a downer (not your fault of course) cause a new shiny ipad isn’t on my near future plans. And it’s quite expectable this would only work on newer hardware, so I’m not complaining either.
I might get back to you for hints, if you won’t mind, cause I want to get into this further and you seem to be on the same page
I'm interested in using it on desktop for older recordings and for some of my recent generative music experiments. Just for fun.
BandLab is my pick and it’s free with their free option of 4 splits I think. There’s a subscription to add an extra guitar stem separation with 5 splits. I use the basic free one without the guitar stem subscription and is good for me. I’ve used other stem separaters with Bandlab as my top one and only one I’ve seen good results with and that has removed the vocals from the instrumental the best way possible. I haven’t tried all the separaters. With Bandlab around I feel that I don’t need to use any others. Give Bandlab a try it’s free and like me you might decide that’s all you need. I would love to try others but most are subscriptions.
I forget to say that you can import from Apple Music Library as well.
Most average people will, maybe, not hear the difference between different apps that’s make audio splits into stems, but, for you guys & gals, download an demo version of RipX on desktop and try out, and you will be surprised…
The technology in RipX let you clean up eventually leaking audio between the tracks, with great tools.
The end result is stunning if you give it some minutes of your life.

Wow, that RipX looks powerful. They haven't considered a lowered-priced iOS port, have they? :-)
I don’t know about iOS, but, if yours/ours interests are sounds, ripping, high quality, I can’t see any competition to RipX - wonderful piece of software!
But, let’s see what Apple has to offer in todays release of Logic Pro 11/2 - one thing differ already, RipX can do more that 4 stems/instrument rips and the post editing is fantastic!
Any movement in this market? Looking for something that I can quickly drop jams into and reduce to just bass and drums so I can try and find better things to play in my own time after the fact…
