  • Loved everything drawn by Don Lawrence

  • Just finished reading Torpedo 1972. Man, did I (when I first read the original 1936), and do I still love Torpedo... I read 1936 when they came out in my late teens, but now they've come together again (Abuli/Bernet) for this new one when he's old but still 100% mean
    It's so fucking funny :D

Always been interested in Torpedo ever since I saw an Alex Toth cover for an issue. Plus i love me some crime comics…100 Bullets, anything by Brubaker/Philips, Scalped, BlackSad, and the list goes on. If you haven’t read The Killer I highly recommend it also.

Do! I’m only a few pages into it after reading your post. I’m hooked already. Excellent writing and illustration.

If you like Alberto Breccia, check out Mort Cinder - the artwork is amazing.

Woah, yah some stunning work there.

  • I’ve been digging into a few lately — Saga (still one of the most beautifully written and illustrated space epics out there), Something Is Killing the Children (creepy but so well-paced), and I just started Monstress, which is gorgeous and dense in world-building. All of them feel like they’re pushing the medium forward in different ways.

  • Humm …. Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, graphic novel interpretation by Manu Larcinet.

Such mixed feelings. Stunning art work, but very … homogeneous throughout? Depressing story, but somehow uplifting too? Faithfully captures the feel of the book. I'm just not sure how I feel about the book.

    I couldn't put it down.

Next up is Monstress on @Melanie 's recommendation. I hope I like it better than Saga though. I did not care for that at all.

Oh I need to do Mort Cinder too.

I'm very lucky. Our library offers a huge catalog of comics for checkout online.

  • Just picked up Tongues by Anders Nilsson. Few pages in and seems right up my alley .

I also have w0rldtr33 queued up to look forward to ..
