The Last Martian

Following on from my last video where I used some of Igor Vasiliev's apps, Ivor kindly sent me a code for his latest app, NoiseSpace. So I thought I would try another live session in AUM.
This time I created a preset in NoiseSpace, which, to me, sounded like an alien creature dying - especially when I added a Nembrini Rack Flanger. I then added some background music, courtesy of Riffler Flow, playing a Nylon Guitar Korg Module and Ravenscroft Piano (Croyance preset) and added some drums with Hammerhead through Rack Reverb. There is also a subtle gated effect from Auto Pad on which I added AudioModern's Gatelab and an EQ.
The live improv over the top this time is using GeoTenorSax in GeoShred.

  • Well THAT was certainly memorizing

Don't know what I expected, but certainly not the soundtrack of a scifi noir scene

"It's been months since my last drink, but the bottle was callin from the bottom drawer...

Then there she was. Beautiful red dress, pouty lips, hair slightly padded with the light rain, almost floating in, upon a mass of tentacles skiddering across the floor.."

    Great work ❤️

"I say What's wrong doll face? You afraid your old man's cheating on you? Afraid there's a pebble in your stylish shoe you call a life? Gotten by on those beautiful looks for far too long, and now the signs are clear? Well, I can help you, but you've got a come clean. Whyd you end on at my door, at this time of night, looking for answers now?

She tilts her head, catching her adorable cheeks in the light with a quizzical expressions and replies

    Blargargalargarbblag!!!"

  • Thanks for listening @PapaBPoppin and for the imagery! 😎

  • So many new synths, so little time. This one sounds like fun. I love the tenor sax. Nice track, bro.

This sounds like something by Tom Waits… or Captain Beefheart. I would love to hear a spoken word version of this with a solo tenor sax in the background.

  • Your wish is my command, @Paulieworld !

    Thanks @PapaBPoppin and @Paulieworld
Swam Double Bass is played by Riffer, Pure Piano is played by Chordjam and GeoTenorSax is played by me in GeoShred, with a little reverb from Rack Reverb.

That is astounding and mindboggling how quickly you put all that together!

The visuals are a wonderful, unexpected, addition

    Truly stellar

  • Outstanding! Really enjoyed that. Thank you!
I have been messing around with some spoken word stuff. I don’t know if I’ll post it here, though. It might be a bit too weird. It’s on SoundCloud, and it’s titled “Do Not Feed The Zombies”. Cheers!

  • Cheers, @PapaBPoppin and @Paulieworld - glad you liked it. It was fun to put together.

  • Both excellent Colin, amazing that you did the second one so quickly after Paul’s comment… are you on piece rate ?

Thanks @GeoTony ! I was so inspired by the words @PapaBPoppin wrote that the whole project came into my head , allowing me to create suitable prompts for the images and I fell lucky with a perfect ChordJam patch first time, with SWAM Upright and Pure Piano. I added a loop of rain to add atmosphere and ran the movie in my head, editing it to fit.
