2017 iPad // Crackle on template

edited April 2025 in Loopy Pro

Good evening folks.

Before I can go on to clear my other question in another thread I have to have an emergency stop here ...

When I used the Soft Drummer template @espiegel123 showed me I already noticed some crackling sound especially when moving the jam/intensity crossfader.
Now I was tweaking around with some settings and today the crackles got really loud and annoying and it crackles all the time, when the Lumbeat Buddy extension is open. There is no crackle when that extension window is closed. Checking CPU: it is running at about 25% to 35%, but by opening the buddy, it goes up to 80 up to 140% .... while the extension window shows 25 to 30%. As soon as I close the extension window, CPU load is going down to 25 again.

This not only happens with my modified project, but it happens with the original downloaded template as well. I was wondering if the iPad that I use here is too weak and too old (2nd generation 2017) anyway, but another template thad I built with a couple of tracks for about 4 analog audio tracks and one or two heavy plugins each still only shows 20% CPU usage.

Opinions?

What buffer size are you using?

  • It was 64 - I tried higher numbers, but that didn’t help 😅😅

I am surprised that higher numbers didn't help. Have you rebooted? Quite a lot of people use Lumbeat Buddy. Did you you reboot after changing the buffer?

Do you experience the issue with the unmodified project I uploaded to patchstorage?

  • yes, I did the reboot, and with the buffer size at the highest it is still not "crackle-free". Same with the unmodified project.
But I decided to change device and not to bother you any further.
I'll rather come back to the timing issue over at the other thread.
    Thank you.
