It looks very interesting, and I have downloaded and have absolutely no idea what is going on. Anyone found a manual somewhere? (I have tried to google to no avail.)

Press the :docs button at the bottom row

  • ah, thanks a lot!

  • Already presented here: https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/64775/dot-synthesis it always good to do a search first but, thanks anyway. It is a very cool app which I've been playing around with quite a bit since it came to my attention. Actually first by user aaa on the sales thread. 😃

  • sorry Pxlhg for dupe:(
I guess I was confused by the name...
    with or without [ ]
    leet...;)

  • Good to have a dedicated thread for this. Intriguing, and the docs are helpful….potentially. Unable to get any sound out of it. The getting started doc is simple enough—load a .wav sample and preview. I see movement in the oscilloscope but no sound from my iPad . Searching for troubleshooting tips in the docs, to no avail.

I’m wondering if anyone whom has tried the app experienced the same but was able to produce sound.

    Thanks.

No, you might need a reboot. An imported sample will play once, using the > on the import window. Press the + to take it to the step seq, here you need to have steps, X, for it to make sound/loop (till you choose to stop). If you press the /number you will divide the sample as many time as the number.

Edit: I do a quick tutorial but it'll be a minute till I upload and post, just a moment.. 😀
Here you go, hope it helps.

  • Hope someone does a tutorial for this because I have no clue what’s going on ….

OMG this will undoubtedly take the crown of the most cryptic app of the year.

Actually if the description from the AppStore is removed perhaps even century.

It makes no difference whether free or not imo.

I’m no brain scientist, but I found it reasonably intuitive. Maybe my mind doesn’t process vowels much?

  • This isn’t working… app is borked…

  • Thanks for the link - will check these out :)

Everything seems to be working perfectly. ;)

Try shutting down and restarting your iPad and see if that helps first.

Just opened it again, and I’ve come to the conclusion that you must be being sarcastic Dan 😄

You don't even have a sound loaded which I can see by the zero bottom left (:lyrs window). Also, turn off: rcrd:ms. Use that much later as it is for automating stuff. Did my video not help at all? also asking @Kashi ?

Edit: I also agree with @sevenape, it was fairly easy to get this one started, it took me some time before I even needed the manual. Now, give me LoopyPro and I just can't get over the first hurdles - it's the settings and automating off stuff I just can't get my tired head around, don't get me started on GR2. Brrr

  • Could we merge this with the other thread for the same app @wim ?

  • Great stuff, and pretty simple once it clicks. How do you record though?

That one I haven't figured either but I have my iPads sound going to a mixer to my Mac Mini, so I can record there. I still would like to know though, if it's something with the projects you save maybe?

Hahaha it’s a pretty simple sample sequencer, right? There’s not much craziness going on apart from the whole layout and labelling thing? Turn the haxxor style text and the oscillator off and it’s pretty simple… I think ?

  • Quick jam looping loops 2 layers of 6 samples

That's just wrong (and a bit degrading to Igor's superb apps). The only thing strange with it is the naming of the various windows.

If you just load one sample and start to explore. After maybe a few hours, you'll understand the features and you will say: "this is it!?" 🙃

Whereas eg BeatCutter, you can use for hundreds of hours and, you will (still) say: "what is this!?"😮 🤣

That’s the thing. Life’s precious and time’s precious.

I think Igor Vasiliev’s apps are complex, this one’s made to look complex but from what I’ve seen so far is quite simple made unnecessarily complex.

Of course I’m probably wrong because I haven’t gone deep enough but if an app is complex, why to add to the learning curve with a cryptic Ui? Aesthetics? Mmmm, that really IS cruel!

Yeah, only took a brief glance at this, and although it looks cool, and though the manual doesn't look long, I can't help but think that aesthetics has been prioritized over an intuitive UI. That said, I'm guessing the dev mainly designed it for his own pleasure, and it is free, so I suppose that's his choice.

Agreed. I think the main problem with these (some of which are wonderful) apps are, they're one man projects and a good UI/UX cost money to investigate and then execute. So, they do it them selfs to, I'm sure, their best ability. That's all understandable but why not one of them can listen to user input is more of an enigma.

I remember Gavinski trying to give VirSyn Harry some good advice on the horrid Cube Synth UI - wow, that did not sit well with him as he probably thought he'd done some master piece design.

Haha. I don't actually remember that part about Cube Synth now. Haven't used it in a long time tho, maybe that's why. With Igor's apps, one thing that frustrates me is that, if I haven't used them in a while, I almost always forget some crucial aspects of the UI and need to check the manual or re-watch my own vids again, to remember those parts, even after just a few months.

  • For me good app UI should be at Sesame Street level, just like a website, the KISS approach. Once I have to start puzzling I kind of loose my creativity. Small learning curve, ok. But it should be clear from the start what it is and how to approach it.
