  • The only IK products I still use on a somewhat regular basis are the iLoud Micro Monitors, iRig Mic HD and well MixBox...
...the other IK stuff I've bought over the years (iRig Pads, iRig Keys & Uno Synth) is more or less collecting dust in a box...

IK Multimedia. 🙄 Welp, add "discontinuing iOS products people rely on" to IK's evergrowing list of "sins" they've committed. Really, I haven't purchased anything of theirs since Mixbox received the "CS" treatment and all the utter headaches caused due to that.

IK have always come off as a shady company anyways, but honestly this is the final nail in the coffin as far as I'm personally concerned. Ymmv.

Tbh, I agree. These guys have managed to alienate people so much over the years, the amount of negative press they've had is unreal. I had a tendency to give them the benefit of the doubt, but don't think I would want anything to do with them ever again, I don't like the way they operate

This. ☝️ I mean, I try to be a positive person, and it's very rare I dunk on a developer. Even the guys behind N-Track Studio get a pass, because though I sought a refund, they're still responsive devs.

But IK is one of said rare exceptions. They're shadier than Slim. 😂🤣

  • Confused - all the apps I can remember (most of which I bought over the years) still seem to be showing in UK App Store

Might be only a matter of time, sad to say.

Well, I have an unconventional solution to the Mixbox dilemma. Use miRack as an effects chain instead. Don't have to use it as a modular synth if you really don't want to. ☺️

Most of the old IAA apps are still in the App Store, but many of the more recent (and relatively expensive) AUv3 apps have gone. Syntronik, Sampletron, and Mixbox among them.

Yeah, I jumped the gun when I said they were all gone. I was just looking for the latest ones I own

  • They decided to 'retire' the apps that were actually worth having and decided keep the rest of the 'crap' available for sale, nice move IK, I feel sorry for those who would accidentally buy any of the remaining app and later realize they are not even AUv3 compatible.

As far as I'm concerned it's Game Over IK...

  • Motherfuckers retired mixbox? Ios music environment is horrible. 😞

  • looks like they discontinued also desktop versions. Now Mixbox page redirects to Total Studio Max 5 :(

Same here. Game Over, IK. I agree 100% with everything you said in the first paragraph too.

To be blunt, their software pricing model has never made sense to me. Prices are all over the map.

  • Considering they seem to promote their Total Studio Max 5 (with a whopping savings of €12000 if you get the €499 deal)

I would NOT be surprised if we see an 'Everything IK Subscription' for only €49.99 per month...
...and then there will likely be an annual '€499 IK Tax Option' for Total Studio Max 6,7,8 etc. etc.

This is where things are unfortunately heading.

Even though I like(d) MixBox out of pure principle it's no longer installed on my iPad and n nothing form IK will ever be installed again on any of my devices...

Subscription pricing is why I no longer have Adobe software on my computer.

Yeah this kind of pricing model is for mugs

  • This majorly sucks.

    What's a good 1176 and LA2A alternative?

  • Also SSL G Bus, Pultec EQP-1A

If you already have MixBox on iPad or desktop, that doesn't change. But I fully expect their software will "break" at some point (who knows when) and they won't update it.

  • I have been in contact with IK regarding SampleTank working on iPad Mini but not iPad Air 4 and iPad Air 6, they told me their team were investigating the issues I reported to them. I will ask what’s going on and what other apps are doomed to disappear.

Seriously doubt they'll announce which software offerings will no longer be sold or supported. It'll just happen when it happens.

Yeah but it would be nice to inform us - some users have projects with advanced settings of mixbox and then it just disappears. It's not fair. They definitely wanted to do it quietly.

Again, if you already have the software, it's not disappearing from your iPad or desktop... but WHEN it breaks eventually, that will be the time to start pulling your hair out.

There is no LA-2A or 1176 alternative unfortunately. I do NOT recommend getting AuroraDSP's offerings.

As far as SSL G Bus, the closest I've found soundwise is FAC Medusa.

Pultec you could go for Klevgrand's GotoEQ.

Why not ? Their guitar amp plugin are phenomenal.

For me they just don't work: there's lots of GR on the LA-2A even with the Peak Reduction knob at zero, and the 1176 has bleed with input at zero, and no all-in mode. They just don't work and sound like the units they're trying to emulate. I've done comparisons with desktop plugins as well. If you can refund them, try them, otherwise buyer beware!

  • I left a message on their forum. Maybe if enough people give feedback they will reconsider.

Appreciate the effort, but when it goes this far they've probably evaluated it based on P&L (profit and loss) numbers and they decided to pull the trigger permanently.

  • I will say, to BlipInteractive's credit, while I disagree with Matt sunsetting Nanostudio 2, at least he mentioned he'd sunset it so those who have computers could have time to back it up. IK didn't allow users that opportunity afaik. But I think you can still back up with iMazing or something similar.

Their “savings” model is just pure marketing bs. I will never invest in IK multimedia anymore with their strange behaviour.
