Enable/disable count-in by a button

I want to enable/disable the count-in by pressing a button. I’m running the beta, got the count-in option enabled within the metronome settings and have tried the press and toggle functions but with no result. Maybe I’m trying something that doesn’t work at all but if someone can help me out…

Are you talking about this particular setting? (Count-in can apply to a couple of different things)

  • I have a MIDI clip where I want to record to and some normal audio clips. When pressing the record button for the MIDI clip, I would like to use a count-in, when recording to or playing the audio clips I don’t want a count-in. I thought that the cancel count-ins/outs would control the function you have circled but it doesn’t. I now see that it’s from the clip menu. Perhaps I’m missing something on clip level?

Cancel In/Outs (as explained in the manual) cancels count-ins/outs that are in progress such as if a clip is counting in to record you can cancel the count-in to prevent recording.

There is an Assign Clip Settings that can be used to change the assigned recording count-in (or pretty much any other clip setting).

You might also consider using different colors and defining the count-in settings in the color.

If you haven’t checked out the tutorial projects in the Sample Projects folder, some of them use the Assign Clip Settings action.
